Question of the day: What did you get (or give) on Mother's Day?

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms of Shine!

This Mother's Day is only my second, but I have to say it's kind of nice to have a day set aside to honor all we do as moms. We juggle career, feeding a family, making sure everyone gets where they need to go on time, keeping everyone and their laundry clean, school fundraisers, homework help -- you name it.

So, moms, this is your day, and I'm hoping you all got lovely gifts from your loved ones. At my house, I really wanted us to keep it simple. I just wanted a great breakfast and lots of time with my daughter, but without any of the work. My hubby will deal with the diaper changes and cleaning up the messes and all those annoying little chores that make mommyhood not so fun. That present beats a mixer or pajama set any day!

Now, mothers of Shine, our question for you is: How did you celebrate Mother's Day? What did you get from the family? And honestly, we have a soft spot for those adorable hand-made cards and half-burnt breakfasts from the kids. Too cute!

And if you're not a mom, we'd love to hear how you spent your Mother's Day, too. What did you give to or do for the mom in your life? Are you still trying to think of something? Well, you could check out some of the ideas our editors came up with, or you could just do something really easy -- give mom a call or pay her a visit and let her know just how much you love and appreciate her!

Share it here in the comments below, or even blog it. We want to hear how you're spending the day.

What my family and I are doing/give mom, is we all have a thin necklace, we are ging to give her with a card, telling her it is to rep. her circle of love. Then the adults all have keys, with their birthstone set in them. The grandchildren will have hearts... Then we each have a poem, that we all wrote, or have had wrote... asking her at the end to place then key/heart on her cirle of love. Then it will start with our father, down to the last grandchild... For an example; my sister-in-laws poem reads:

I am your Dauughter-in-law, born your same month. We have a likeness about us, we both love as deeply as our birhstone goes green. Please place my key to your heart on your circle of love.

Gave my mom a musical card, because she is blind an can't see the card but loves the musical ones.

Funniest thing ever, my daughter-in-law came over last night and gave me a gift bag full of lavender scented body/bath supplies. A beautiful card that she wrote her feelings for me in.

I than gave her what I thought she would like , a set of "lavender" scented candles.

She knows I like "lavender" and I know she likes "lavender", it was quite ironic that we both gave similar scented gifts.

We got a good laugh over it and it bonded us even more. We are great friends.

My husband made us all a huge breakfast with every choice we wanted. Yesterday he took me to pick out a tree I have been wanting and is getting me a flower basket. Oh, the best part was...he let me sleep in! :)

I'm being taken out later by a friend of mine. Both our husbands are in the same unit deployed to Iraq. She's not a mother yet but I think it is pretty special that she is taking me out to celebrate. Also my wonderful husband managed to have a bouquet of rosed delivered to me even though he is over there in a war. I Love Him So Much!!!! :)
