Question of the day: What did you get (or give) on Mother's Day?

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms of Shine!

This Mother's Day is only my second, but I have to say it's kind of nice to have a day set aside to honor all we do as moms. We juggle career, feeding a family, making sure everyone gets where they need to go on time, keeping everyone and their laundry clean, school fundraisers, homework help -- you name it.

So, moms, this is your day, and I'm hoping you all got lovely gifts from your loved ones. At my house, I really wanted us to keep it simple. I just wanted a great breakfast and lots of time with my daughter, but without any of the work. My hubby will deal with the diaper changes and cleaning up the messes and all those annoying little chores that make mommyhood not so fun. That present beats a mixer or pajama set any day!

Now, mothers of Shine, our question for you is: How did you celebrate Mother's Day? What did you get from the family? And honestly, we have a soft spot for those adorable hand-made cards and half-burnt breakfasts from the kids. Too cute!

And if you're not a mom, we'd love to hear how you spent your Mother's Day, too. What did you give to or do for the mom in your life? Are you still trying to think of something? Well, you could check out some of the ideas our editors came up with, or you could just do something really easy -- give mom a call or pay her a visit and let her know just how much you love and appreciate her!

Share it here in the comments below, or even blog it. We want to hear how you're spending the day.

Kinda cheesy, but I made homemade salsa, & put together a 'fiesta' gift basket with the salsa, beer, & chips. Then I drove to take it to my mom in person.

My kids got creative and made me my mothers day gifts this year. I then took them to the dollar store so they could buy something special that they wanted to give to me. The rest of my day consisted of business as usual. Mom still has to be Mom, even on Mother's Day.

Today in church my son and my husband sang and played their guitars a song by Bebo Norman titled Without You I am Nothing. I was so proud.

My husband was scheduled to perform a special and when my son came home from college yesterday, I asked him if he would perform with his Dad. He replied, No, I didn't know anything about it. I replied, It's Mother's Day and he grinned and said okay. A great gift. Praise God, for without Him we would not be Mother's!
