Remembering 9/11

We've had a string of stunning blue-sky, perfect September days here in the New York area, and today is no exception. It is the kind of day that makes seven years disappear in an instant, and a morning that looks so happy is suddenly achingly sad. We remember, all too clearly, that fateful, terrible blue-sky morning. As we should.

I live in a town where 17 dads and moms who rode the train to work in the morning didn't return home. Many others lost family members. They all have rebuilt their lives with grace and the support of family and friends, but it's so important to stop and remember what they have gone through to get to today. Just as we need to remember the people they loved who died on the morning of September 11, 2001.

My kids were little seven years ago, and somehow their amazing teachers shielded them from the horror all day. My first-grade son at the time had no idea his cherished first-grade teacher was worried sick about her husband. (He was okay). I remember telling them what happened when we were all together at the dinner table that night, and how my 6-year-old son looked me in the eye and said, "You told us there were no bad people around here."

Tonight, we will talk about it again, and we will remember. We are all older now, but none-the-less sad.

Speak up, and share your thoughts on this 9/11 day of remembrance.

I feel bad for the peoples lives that where lost and those who morned there loved ones. I just cant believe all have dropped the ball on finding out the truth. Our own government had full knowledge of everything that happened and if you do your research you will find the truth was suppressed and this was designed to create a need for more taxes and military spending. You people are so blind and cant see our government is creating a need by instilling the FEAR in you all. Hey but your safe if you keep your blindfolds on. I pray for us all.

I remember I was watching "Today" and saw the whole thing. It was so sad, I remember when Matt Lauer said, "That has to be a commuter plane, not a commercial airliner", I was thinking the same thing.

My son was in Pre-K at the time, my daughter in Daycare. I got them both and had them home with me.

For weeks afterward, everything seemed oddly quiet all the time.

I hope that the surviving family members are well, and can find happiness at this time.

THANK YOU TO ALL SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN FOR CONTINUING TO FIGHT FOR OUR FREEMOM AND PUTTING THEIR PRECIOUS LIVES ON THE LINE! YOU'LL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN AND HOPEFULLY THE US GOVERNMENT WILL CREATE A HOLIDAY OTHER THAN MEMORIAL DAY TO CELEBRATE YOUR EFFORTS - MAYBE 9/11 CAN BE A CELEBRATED DAY IN THE FUTURE OWED ENTIRELY TO SERVICE MEN/WOMEN, FIREFIGHTERS - ALL WHO WORK TO PROTECT OUR RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS. GOD BLESS THEM AND THEIR FAMILIES!

I feel badly everytime I see it. I was at work when we heard the news over our radios. I worked in a warehouse then, so we listened to our radios alot. I think everyone needs to be reminded of what happened. They need to realize that we are not one hundred percent safe anymore. We have to be ever watchful, and always remember those poor people who perished at the twin towers and flight 93. It should teach us to be aware of all the time. May they all rest in peace.

Today in school we learned about United 93. It was so sad! My history teacher is normally really funny, but today, he was a bit off.

Thank you all of the people who gave their lives to save us! Especially the passengers oof Untied 93. My 8th grade year would be so much different if they hadn't taken the plane down. Thank you. And I also find it ironic how that day was 9-11 and how you dial 911 when there is an emergency. Does anybody else?

I was 16 years old and sitting in the classroom at Carver Vocational-Tecnical High school in Baltimore, Maryland. I thought it was just a rumor that a plane crashed into the world trade center. My psychology teacher turned the tv on and let the whole class see that. We all had a moment of silence for the families and the people who were trapped inside of the building. I was also paranoid because my aunt worked in the north tower building, my dad also had a delivery to the pentagon that same morning. I was so upset and became very combative that morning. My teacher and the classroom told me to calm down and pray they are okay. I did have a cell phone to phone home but i didn't indeed get an answer. It was the first time i ever seen my high school do what they was suppose to do, all students hurried to class and it wasn't any horseplay at all in the hallways of my high school. We all watched the news and my culinary arts teacher was praying for the victims and the families, who were indeed worried sick. Maryland closed all schools in each part at exactly 12 noon that day and evacuated downtown and all malls that day. I was sorry worry that instead of riding the bus 12 blocks i walked with a group of friends home that day. I came home and seen that my father was okay and my mother told me that my aunt was okay, she had a business trip in texas. I felt so much better but i grabbed my bible and went to the nearest church to pray for the ones who were lost and the families of the victims
