1st female closeup magician admitted to the Academy of Magical Arts at the Magic Castle in Hollywood CA

Indeed, I am the first female closeup magician admitted to the Academy of Magical Arts.  The clubhouse is the Magic Castle in Hollywood, CA.

I took the admittance testing three times before I was admitted, not because I was not good but because I was a woman and some of the old guard on the admittance committee did not want to allow a female to be a magician, much less a closeup magician!  It was a long, hard fight but I won.  I refused to just be someone's assistant or to only do a routine of silks and albums on stage.

I had the great honor of having some of the best, most prestigious magicians in the world as mentors.  Such as Dai Vernon "the Professor", my dear friend Jules Lenier who insisted on taking me under his wing, Bobbie Bush, Bob Jardan, Al Goshman, Lenny Duge, Shamata and many more.  They were so kind and generous in their teaching and encouragement in my learning.  I am profoundly grateful!

Sadly, I developed two types of arthritus and 'lost my thumbs' as we in the magic world say.  I have been searching the world for remedies.  I am also working on a book about my adventures and mis-adventures at the Magic Castle and passing along the wonderful advice I was given.  There are far too many people running around out there who really need help with their routines, timing and professionalism.

Watch for my book, coming soon!
