Is it true? McHeigl wants out of "Grey's Anatomy"

Rumor has it that Heigl wants out of her "Grey's Anatomy" obligations. One can't blame the actress for wanting to focus her attentions on a film career, especially since she's proven to be a big screen draw with "27 Dresses" and "Knocked Up." However, one can't help but think of other TV stars failing in their movie careers.

Jennifer Aniston has made a few respectable movies, but she's never been able to pull off blockbuster numbers. Mischa Barton wanted out of "the O.C.," and when the series ended, well -- have you seen her in movie yet? We all loved Kristen Davis on "Sex and the City," but after six seasons as Charlotte, who could see her as anything else? Did anyone catch her in "The Shaggy Dog" or "Deck the Halls"? Exactly.

Do you think Heigl has real star quality to make it was the next Meg Ryan? Would it be a smart move to preemptively leave a hit show? [MSNBC]

For Katherine? Yes. She has proven she has the chops to make it on the big screen. It's not like Mischa Barton who jumped into the lake without testing the water. Katherine did the smart thing and now that she has the experience...I think she can do it.

I think she should leave Grey's Anatomy. The show is horrible. It is way too political, trying to shove all the "free love" (have-sex-with-anyone-no-matter-what-they-are-nonsense) at viewers. I'm so sick of political shows. Law and Order still does that too. Lost a lot of viewers that way who have any decency left in them.

I THINK SHE SHOULD STAY WITH THE SHOW LONGER AND STOP THINKING SHE'S A VERY BIG STAR RIGHT NOW CAUSE SHE MADE TWO MOVIES. SHE'S CUTE AND ALL BUT SHE MIGHT BE JUMPING THE GUN TOO SOON.

I think the bigger issue is that they haven't given her role any "meat" on Gray since her hubby died... and the thing with George - why did they have to kill that, it made them look silly. I would think she is concerned that her character has been reduced to pitiful - if that's the case, movies here we come.

I don't blame her. I only started watching this show last season and this season it has really gone down hill.

I think its about time to gt off that sinking ship. Greys was great at the begining...but now, not so much. And she hasnt had a great storyline in awhile! She was wonderful in Knocked up and in 27 dresses, she has proved to herself and everyone she is a big star.

Have to agree the show has gone downhill - what does she have to lose?

I've never seen Grey's Anatomy, so I couldn't say about that. I loved her in 27 Dresses and Knocked Up.

I don't blame her. Her role has been really lame on Grey's. When she and George fell in love, I winced and felt that was when the corner turned and the show lost track.
