It’s always devastating when one of our favorite TV series is canceled prematurely. We’ve been in mourning over
Arrested Development since 2006, watching the episodes on DVD and awaiting this longtime-rumored feature film we heard was in the works. This week
Hancock star Jason Bateman confirmed it will happen, and it won’t just be the equivalent of several episodes piled back to back. So what’s the hold up? "We all want to do it,” says Bateman. “All the actors want to do it, the writers want to do it, and the boss wants to do it. And they are working on making a deal, probably as we speak. But it's a long, sort of drawn-out, complicated business process.”
Bateman added that the very specific tone that lends itself to non-mass audience means they can’t ask for a lot of money for the production. "They're working it out, and hopefully we'll be able to know something in the next month." Oh and if you see Bateman on the street feel free to keep harassing him about the rumors. "When people come up to me [to talk about
Arrested Development], I'm right there with 'em," he laughed. "There's some narcissism in it!"
