T.I. makes jail sentence work in his favor—lands a reality show

Never one to pass up an opportunity, T.I. has scored a TV show while on house arrest. Prior to serving his one-year sentence from gun charges, the King of the South will perform 1,000 hours of community service and discuss the dangers of guns and gangs on camera as part of a plea deal he struck with the judge. "Hopefully the mistakes I've made will be a lesson to today's youth, and they won't go down that same path," says the 27-year-old Grammy winner.

If this goes off well, his sentence (he pled guilty to attmempting to buy three machine guns and silencers) could be even further reduced—man, that’s celebrities for you. MTV has ordered up eight episodes and will begin filming this summer. It should premiere around the time T.I. reports to jail next January. [E!]

This is disturbing with so many young people now-a-days carrying illegal guns. And even more disturbing is the amount of people being wounded or killed by stray bullets. It's like the wild, wild, extremely wild west in just about every corner of the U.S.

What I find even more shocking is why this man was even attempting to purchase 3 machine guns and silencers to begin with??? Was he going to start a small war somewhere?? Or is this some kind of hobby (collecting ammunition?)

Sorry, but I don't see how him talking about the dangers of guns and gangs is going to help anything. I'm hoping it will but highly doubt it. So sad.

I am so happy that a young and talented African American can still be a positive role model despite all the negative choices he made in the past. This is true proof that we all can LEARN from our mistakes!! Keep ya head up TI and do wut it do!!! God Bless!!

I am tired of the reality shows! Pretty soon everyone will be making a reality show! It's starting to become played out! I do see how this is showing him as being a role model, but it will upset me if he goes back and calls his self trying to learn from his lesson or teach others not to do the same thing. Then he won't be a role model... more like a hypocrite!
