Bobby Flay’s Twist on Mexican Hot Chocolate

This rich drink delivers holiday cheer, and works for guests of any age—you can spike it with a coffee-flavored liqueur for the grown ups.  The hint of cinnamon is what provides the Mexican flair.

Mexican Hot Chocolate
(Serves 4)

Ingredients:

    * 3 cups whole milk
    * 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
    * 2 cinnamon sticks
    * 2 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
    * 1 cup heavy cream, whipped to soft peaks
    * Ground cinnamon
    * Coffee-flavored liqueur (optional)

Directions:

   (1.) Bring the milk, sugar and cinnamon sticks to a simmer over low heat.  Turn the heat off and let steep for 15 minutes.

   (2.) Remove the cinnamon sticks from the pan, place the milk back over low heat and bring to a simmer.  Add the chocolate and whisk until smooth.

   (3.) Divide among four mugs, top each with a few dollops of whipped cream and sprinkle with cinnamon. Serve hot.  Adult version, add 1 shot of coffee-flavored liqueur to each cup before adding whipped cream and cinnamon.

    I love Mexican Hot Cocoa! I've had it from a powder mix at the coffee shop where I used to work, but I use steamed soy milk.

    in our country,we call it champorado. yes its so heaven.

    its a glutinous rice cooked with chocolate(pure choco powder),boiled for few minutes with coconut milk or simply with condense milk.
