Do all these things taste better after sitting in the fridge for so long?

Vixenvena--I would say the relishes should be made several days ahead for the flavors to mellow so definitely yes for those dishes. The time frame has those made first and then the onion dish which, like pickles or other preserves will keep well. The veggies (carrots & green beans) are made the day before and the casseroles are made that morning. Also notice, they don't include recipes like mashed potatoes that are best eaten right after they are made. Another thing I've done in the past, is prep and saute the onions, mushrooms, and celery for the stuffing a day or two ahead. Then on Thanksgiving morning, I just reheat them & go ahead with the rest of the stuffing recipe. Same thing goes for the pumpkin pie--I make the filling a day or two ahead & store in a tupperware in the fridge. Pour it into a pastry shell midday on Thanksgiving and bake!

My family would think I'd hit my head if I served those "unusual" sides. Thanksgiving is about very traditional foods. These don't fit the bill at all. I am interested in learning how to make stuffing/dressing like my deceased mother made that tasted 'perfect.'
She took her 'Loaf bread & Corn bread Dressing' recipe with her.
What is with this sugar baby/mixed mate stuff doing on a food website??

This list suffers from the great downfall of many modern chefs, trying to use weird ingredients wherever possible for no reason other than being trendy.
Thanksgiving is not about wacky "fusion" food or whatever the term is this week, it's about tasty tradition.

i would have liked to see more things that normal people eat on thanksgiving to make ahead than whats here? thursday morning is not making ahead!

I agree that Thanksgiving is all about tradition and traditional food, but it doesn't hurt to try one or two new recipes if the basics are there. It's a great way to start a new tradition and for new favorites to become your tradition. If I had stuck to the basics only, I never would have discovered the Cranberry Mousse that is now a staple in my family's gatherings. It wouldn't be Thanksgiving without it.

this not a tradtional thanksgiving dinner!! no not for the black bother&sisters!!! i don"t belive the white eat this but i could be WRONG ?? but i knkow that black people where i from don"t eat this... here what a thanksghiving dinner is in most black family home is. bake or deepfried turkey,ham, candy yamms , potato salda,dessing, green,cranberry sauce, bannana pudding, cakes or pie and if u old school, wyou will have some chittlings too that what a black normal fam for colubus ohio is having
