Confession of a 27yr old that CANT COOK

I am 27, married for 3wks, and recently found myself jobless. I cant cook at all. No joke, I cant boil water or use a pan, but I can preheat an oven. Are there any REAL simple foods I can try to make. I feel bad that my husband comes home after working 8-12hr days and has to prepare dinner. When I look up simple recipes they are not cooking for dummies. Every time he tries to teach me we argue and we live an hour away from everyone,so thats not an option. I have no problems with sandwiches everynight but he does. Does anyone have any tips for a good first try meal?

Have you tried instant noodles? Not nutritious, but I bet it is the easiest meal you can do. Add canned vegetables (tomatoes, beans, etc...), cooked meat balls as you like.

I have the perfect meal. It's super easy.

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.

Use a 13x9 inch baking dish (I prefer glass).

Open a can of Campbell's Cream of Chicken soup and put it in the dish.

Add 1 1/3 cups of water, 3/4 of a cup of uncooked white rice, 2 cups of frozen veggies, 1/2 a teaspoon of onion powder and mix it all together.

Once you have this strange mixture mixed, lay four boneless, skinless chicken breasts in the mixture. Put salt and pepper on top of the chicken breasts. Cover the top of the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes. When you take it out of the oven, put shredded cheese on top of the chicken breasts.

This meal is super easy. I can now make it in 5 minutes and it takes only 45 minutes to cook. Everyone I have made it for loves it and they think I'm a great cook. I'm not, but I have been learning to make simple dishes here and there over the last 4.5 years of marriage. Don't feel bad! Most women don't learn how to cook until they have to. You will get better with time and soon dinner will be just another routine.

    Blessings,

    Sarah

i can't cook either. but salad is easy, you can buy a mix bag right at the store. you can add baby carrots, dressing and almonds or walnuts. then make pasta for dinner. that is the easiest thing to make. boil water, add pasta and wait. heat up some sauce. add some bread sticks and you have a meal.

I would try cooking things that are simple, like box mashed potatoes, frozen vegtables, salads. go onto www.foodnetwork.com they have some basic cooking tips. Practice when he's working & experiment with different foods & you will become more confident. Don't worry you will probaly burn some things, or make some pretty bland food that will happen, I would buy spices & see what flavors you like & what you don't care to taste again. Also do a search on the web for beginning cooking. Good luck!

    2 cans of tuna

    1/2 bottle of bar-b-que sauce

    1/4 cup of dehydrated onions

drain tuna put in a pot, add onions and sauce. Heat until onions are limp. Put on any kind of a bun you like and there you have the best "mock bar-b-que" you ever ate. My ma-in-law gave me this and my family loves it.

Also take 4 potatos wash very well. Split in half, lay cut side down and slit the top lightly. In a oiled pan, place cut side down shake Garlic powder, salt, pepper. Bake for 30 min at 375. Best side dish ever.

Remember a church or school based cook book is the best tool in a kitchen. Even for some one who can't cook.
