Delicious: Watermelon and feta salad
partner
One of the things I miss most about San Francisco were our monthly
parties--a group of us would take turns having each other over on a
Sunday night for dinner and
dessert and an endless flowing river of all
the wine in the whole world. My friends are amazing cooks, so
some
amazing recipes came out of those Sundays; one of my favorites was the
watermelon and feta salad our friend K. mixed up beautifully a few
times. There was something about the tang of the feta against the
watery, melting sweetness of the melon, the mint, the basil, I want to
say--but I don't remember, exactly. I have forgotten
the recipe, and
had almost forgotten about the salad itself.
And that is why I might have squealed a little, when I ran across
this post on the lovely
Oh Happy Day, about a
watermelon salad recipe from bon appétit.
It is not the same recipe--there are far too many vegetables, and there
is also greek
yogurt involved--but despite its imperfections, it sounds
almost as brilliant as K.'s concoction. Which I will have to email her
about immediately. Luckily, watermelons are enormous, feta cheese is
something that will never go bad in my fridge, and I have a
craving for
salad that I think will last all week.
