Ditch your diet soda addiction

I'm addicted to Diet Coke. I love the taste, the lack of calories and how it satisfies a serious 11 am void that no coffee or food can fill. Every time I crack a can, I feel joy but also a sense of "Ick!" What the &^%* am I putting into my body? I heard my co-worker mention that among other things, Diet Coke will "pickle your innards." Fantastic. What's worse? Studies are now showing that Diet Coke can actually make you gain weight. I'm finally determined to nip this habit in the bud, but it's not easy with Yahoo! free soda vendors in every kitchenette. Oy!

Hungry Girl just posted a blog entitled: 4 Ways to ditch your diet soda dependancy. She suggests:

1. Stevia Sweetened Soda
2. Metromint Water
3. Zenergize Vitamin Infused Drink Tabs
4. POM Light Tea
[-HungryGirl]

I've also heard that seltzer is a great replacement. It has a similar burn (diet coke addicts know what I'm talking about here) but doesn't pickle your innards;)

Are you addicted to DC? Have you kicked the habit? Share your diet-soda-ditching devices or professions of love. It's a tough one and we are all in this together.

I used to drink 8 to 10 Diet Cokes a day. Now I drink Soda Water and take DietKola Capsules. It's the stuff in the can, but in a pill - except no aspartame and no caramel (My dentist noticed the difference) and no phosphoric acid. It helps curb my craving for the diet cokes. I totally understand about the need to have it. For me, the best was in a can, as fountain drinks were okay, but not the same. DietKola pills helped me end the additction!

    Yes,

I drink at least 10 t0 12 cans a day.I have been drinking alot since Tab first came out. I quit fairly easily a year ago and started up again and have been back to my normal 6 to 12 a day I know this is not good for me. I am suffering now from joint pain in my feet, and have not really been affected by fatigue too much, however i know this has got to stop. I will try the remedy I used before with a Red Bull for the caffein withdrawl and other liquids such as H2o, OJ, FRUIT DRINKS and gradually wean off Red Bull. Silly crazy addiction, please wish me luck, I am going to bust this habit tomorrow. Wish you all Good Luck and Thanks for the support it really helps to know you understand this addiction.

Yes, I too am a Diet Coke addict. I self-treat for depression. Aspartame is actually a poison, and its biggest effect on me is on my mood. It turns me into instant megawitch. I mean, PMS in a can. Still the buzz is so good, I've had a 10 year battle to quit.

Flavored seltzers have been the biggest help and I love them. I now occaisionally have a DC--as a treat, and when I'm likely to be alone for several hours afterward. Although, honestly, I can sense its mood effects even the morning after! My husband ALWAYS knows when I've been "using," because it's a distinctive "bright," argumentatvie mood that results. My DC high.

    Disgusting, no?
