Drink Recipes for a Political Party!

Once you've pulled the lever, it's time to kick back, mix up some cocktails, and watch the returns roll in. Here, a drink recipe for each side of the purple divide.

The Blue Stater
With fresh juices, antioxidant-rich berries, and handcrafted California gin, it's fussy and a wee bit pretentious - but it means well.

Combine in a cocktail shaker:
Juice of 1/2 lime
1 tsp. superfine sugar
1/2 tsp. Canton ginger liqueur
8 fresh blueberries
Muddle until everything is well mixed. Add 2 oz. No. 209 gin. Fill with ice, shake, and strain into chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a small rainbow flag.

The Red Stater
Nothing fancy here - just Kentucky bourbon, vodka from the heart of Texas, a splash of Florida citrus, and grenadine. Yee-haw.

Shake well with lots of ice:
3/4 oz. Wild Turkey 101-proof bourbon
1/2 oz. Tito's vodka
1 tsp. fresh-squeezed lemon juice
1 tsp. grenadine
Strain into tall shot glass. Garnish with small American flag.

Why does the blue stater get a rainbow flag and not an American flag, too? All democrats aren't gay. We're all Americans, though!
