Is Starbucks In Trouble?

By June of 2009, making a quick coffee stop may be hard. Starbucks is closing 616 of the 7,087 stores it currently owns by the first half of 2009. This means that 12,000 workers will find themselves jobless. Because the economy is in trouble right now, people are spending less money on unnecessary things like coffee. This means that companies like Starbucks are in trouble. It looks like the days of buying a latte and seeing 3 more Starbucks down the road are over. Less than 200 stores are opening nationwide next year. Is the Starbucks Coffee empire coming to an end?

I do not think it is going to end. I know that they are in trouble. I do know also for managers and such they are going to try and move them to other stores to take positions. They are also closing a good amount of stores. It is like that everywhere we are in a recession, why shouldn't the coffee giant also loose out with a late now costing us about 4 dollers?

It's the economy for sure. Also, Dunking Donuts is giving Starbucks a run for their money. DD seels great coffee at half the price and is introducing lattes, too. Many major grocery stores also have their own coffee shops inside.

if you don't support our troops then i will not buy your coffee they do not have to support the war issues but our soldiers deserve more that that so even if the coffee is not as good i go else where so yaaaaaaaa i'm glad there business is down now change the policy and i'll go back to buying your coffee star bucks and next time our soldiers ask for a cup of joe maybe you'll understand that americans over there don't ask for much so if you want americans over here to support your business then you need to SUPPORT OUR SOLDIERS

These days it's hard to tell the difference between a chef, a celebrity and a restaurateur. So many actors are now clad in Crocks, critiquing foie gras, sharing family flan recipes or opening Hollywood hot spots.
