Make life easier: Sign up for Shine's 'What's for Dinner' newsletter

Hello and welcome to Shine’s new site dedicated to all things food. In this latest version, we're keeping our informative blogs, but we're expanding to give our readers more service by adding over 7,000 recipes. We've also pulled together a weekly What's for Dinner newsletter, that’ll help you answer the ever-looming (and sometimes annoying) “What’s for dinner?" question with easy, delicious meal suggestions--like traditional family favorites, weekend date menus, new twists on the classics, and lots and lots of excellent desserts.

For several months I've been having fun getting the new site in order and getting familiar with all of you and now What's for Dinner is the culmination of what I've learned; it's tailored to what Shiners are blogging and commenting on. And I'm taking requests! Let me know what you want in your newsletter. I'll be reading all the comments below. And sign up!

My top seven recipes from the Shine Food newsletter:

#1 Penne with Broccoli and Pancetta. I always keep a box of penne in my pantry just waiting for this kind of easy, fresh treatment. You should too--this dish is perfect for a feed-me-fast Tuesday night.

#2 Herbed Mashed Potatoes. I usually make mashed potatoes the exact same (boring) way, for no real reason (recipe complacency?), but no more! This recipe is vibrant and sophisticated.

#3 Double-Decker Pumpkin Bread. I love classic breads that somehow feel really new--they have the fuzziness of familiarity, but without the bore. I'm ready to inhale this one with my unchecked sweet tooth.

#4 Turkey Piccata with Fettuccine. Piccatas are the sort of dishes I always order and think, "This must be so easy to make at home," and then I NEVER look up the recipe.

#5 Triple Chocolate Cookies. I am really serious about cookies. Cookie Monster (his pre-fruit stage) serious. Our new food page has 649 cookie recipes. That's information I need to share.

#6 Garlic-Mustard Green Beans. Why, why, why do most people make bland green beans when it's this easy to get a good recipe? (Answer: No newsletter!) Note, everything in this dish is probably already in your kitchen.

#7 Holiday Cider. Making this (with or without booze) in your home is the best-smelling, coziest thing you can do in the kitchen. Few activities make me this happy to be in my apartment.

The recipes look wonderful. Suggestion? Maybe a vegetarian alternative with the main dish recipe?
