More hypersexual food ads: Super Seven Inchers and “Holes”

Burger King

Burger King

After writing about the racy Carl's Jr. spots, Burger King's controversial Sir Mix-a-Lot commercial and overly suggestive celebrity alcohol ads we realize these sexed up campaigns are becoming a huge trend.

The latest ad that has people up in arms is for the new BK Super Seven Incher Sandwich, which claims via extremely phallic injury that "it'll blow your mind away." The small print on the bottom suggests you "fill your desire for something long, juicy and flame grilled." Are we talking about fellatio here, or eating a burger? Yikes. This Burger King ad is even more blunt than the recent Quizno's Toasty Torpedo commercials, where the oven talks to an employee telling him to "put it [the sandwich] in me."

And this isn't the last of it! Hardees has just begun a cringeworthy "Name our Holes" campaign (see below). Yes, holes. They're not donut holes, but rather tiny spheres of biscuit dough "rolled in

cinnamon and sugar and served with icing for dipping," and Hardee's wants some assistance coming up with what to call these little guys. Of course, the commercial is full of sexual innuendo, and we're sure the name they come up with will be loaded too. When does it end?

Do you think all the sexualized food ads are funny, or are they now crossing the line? [Gawker]

If the consumer has a dirty mind, then that is what they will see with that add. To me the BK print ad looks like a pic from the late 60's or 80's with the pale white dead looking woman.... It could be construed as art someday. Crazy that people are so hypersensitive about a sandwich and and the hole commercial looks like a dig at the "are you my mother" childrens book. IS that too sexy as well?? Maybe if you let kids watch these commercials without the gasps of horror I can just imagine most of you are doing, the children will have an unbiased opinion that may not be "dirty".While I dont like the carls jr commercials with the psuedo celebrity (audrina partridge) suggestively sucking down a burger (than probably going and barfing it up)I do have the common sense to realize that neither myself nor my two teen daughters are the target 14 - 35 year old male demographic... I am not too worried... People need to lighten up!

Okay...the carls jr bikini ads were distasteful, but these aren't that bad. Here's why:

    A) do you know how long I and a group of my friends had to think before we realized WHY these would be controversial? Answer- more than two minutes.

    B) We're 13-16...how long would that take a younger kid (the ones you all seem to 'worry' about)

    C) If your kid got the ads and saw them as dirty, you have a bigger problem on your hands, (like how a little mind would jump to that conclusion)

For those who take issue with sexual subject matter, please answer this for the forum:

Outside of unwanted pregnancy & stds, both mitigated with a modicum of common sense (much like overeating & obesity), How is sex a bad (or immoral) thing?

Here's some 'food' for thought: You want to pick a cause, choose something that desperately needs & deserves your objections like the incessant violence that runs rampant throughout media.

" I really don't want my child seeing this dross"

god forbid we have children see something sexual

much better that they are marketed to with violence, right?

OMG, speaking of BK, last winter they had this commercial on ONCE that I ever seen and it was late night, it was when the cheesy tots came out and they guy was in his car getting ready to eat a tot and he looked over at the next car to this attractive woman and had a tongue "hard-on". I was totally appalled to the point where I wanted to email BK, but I never saw that ad again thank god.
