SHOCKINGLY Diet-Friendly Menu Finds!

With all the high-calorie (and high-sugar, and high-fat) foods out there, it's comforting to know there ARE some options that you may be shocked to find aren't as bad as you might expect. Here are a few we here at Hungry Girl were pleased to discover...

Starbucks Marshmallow Dream Bar

1 square = 210 calories, 4g fat, 43g carbs, 0g fiber, 1g protein

We're not always as strong as we'd like while standing in front of that glass case of treats at The 'Bucks. But if you're gonna cave (it happens to the best of us!), this goodie is pretty light on calorie damage. And the satisfaction factor is HUGE, just like the portion size. We feel no guilt reaching for these marshmallow-studded squares, and neither should you. Grab one!

P.F. Chang's Pan-Fried Shrimp Dumplings

1 dumpling = 68 calories, 2g fat, 8g carbs, 0g fiber, 6g protein

Face it. Appetizers at Chinese restaurants are delicious and VERY tempting, so we were pretty relieved to see these stats. Sure, you could save 10 calories and a gram of fat per dumpling if you got 'em steamed... but if you REALLY prefer them pan-fried, it's not gonna kill you. And the entire order only has four dumplings, so unlike some meal-starters, you don't have to worry about overdoing it. Even if you ate the whole plateful, it would only be 272 calories and 8g fat. Considering that's the same amount of fat as ONE egg roll, we're pretty psyched.

Olive Garden Zuppa Toscana

1 bowl = 170 calories, 4g fat, 24g carbs, 2g fiber, n.a. protein

Whoa! One expects low numbers coming from a basic minestrone soup, but not from one that's creamy and loaded with sausage and potatoes. This is a totally tasty way to start off a meal at the O.G., or even to pair with a salad (dressing on the side; they use way too much) for a light lunch. With stats this low and flavor this high, you can feel a little stronger resisting those dastardly breadsticks.

Chili's Sweet Shot Red Velvet Cake

    1 serving = 250 calories, 9g fat, 39g carbs, 1g fiber, 3g protein

If you can't find 5+ friends to share with, you'll probably want to
steer clear of most of the Chili's dessert menu. But for those
occasions when no one seems to want to split something sugary,
and you've GOTTA have it, try the Sweet Shots. They're
miniaturized versions of popular desserts, and they're just big
enough to hit the spot. WARNING: The Double Chocolate Fudge
Brownie version has nearly twice as many calories as the other
options, as well as 24g fat in that petite serving. Hmmmm. We're                                                         sticking with the red stuff.
