Several months ago, I planted some lettuce. It's not
"butter" lettuce, it's not spinach....but I don't
know what kind it is. I saved the seed packet, but when I was
watering the seed planters in their mini-greenhouse in spring, the
packet got all wet and was thrown away. Now I don't know
what kind of lettuce this is, and it's driving me nuts because
I want to know what to plant next year.
Whatever kind of lettuce this is, it's fantasticly green,
crunchy, and strong! It's not on a head, more of a
'stalk' and the leaves are upright and oblong.
I did some looking today and I'm leaning towards Jericho - but
I don't know for sure. Can anyone help me out?

Report AbuseGo to the Plant Conservatory of your municipality. There a horticulturist can identify what variety of lettuce you have after reviewing your pictures and getting additional info from you. If where you live doesn't have a Plant Conservatory, try to find out who orders/plants the plants in your town/city's flower beds and ask that person to help you.

Report AbuseThanks stoshstan - it's not green leaf lettuce going to seed though...it's always looked like this, plus the green leaf lettuce leaves are wider and in more of a head than this.
Initially I thought it was buttercrunch too, but it's too dark and rounded - at least from the pictures that I found.
mandypants - I just looked up Bibb, you might be on to something there!
sagacit45 - good call, I'll have to try that too.
