User post: Extra Attention

I don't mean to single anyone out, but in over 20 years of restaurant experience when a group of women get together they are in my opinion the worst to wait on. They all have their own special wants and needs, like extra lemons with their water, requesting a particular bottled water that I did not mention when I told them what bottled waters we do have, dressings on side -- and when they get their salads they just dump their dressing all over the salad anyway, special requests on their main courses, and these are just a few
examples. Then to top it all off they want to sit there and break their check down to what everyone had when I already made it clear to them at the beginning that I could give them seperate checks. Then, after all the running around and extra attention, they leave you next to nothing for a tip. I know I'm probably going to take a lot of flack for this post, but a group of guys in the same situation still have requests, but not as many, and at the end of the meal they take the check and just split it by how many guys are at the table. A lot easier to wait on. period!!!

I do not get along with my Ex- husband, but-

    He is the best tipper.

He would leave you $5 -- even if it was just him at the table.

Even if his meal was say only like- $10.99. total.

If it was our whole family he would really leave a good tip;)

I never argued. My kids would argue who would take the waiter the tip.

Yes, women are the worst tippers, per se, but there are some good ones too. Don't glob us all into one big bunch. I waited tables too, and when going to lunch (or dinner) with a lady-friend of mine, were known to tip 45%. And tuck an extra $20 under the check. We're not all that bad!

There had been times when I would dine with the ladies. Seeing how I'm a dude I would take my check seperately so that at the end of the meal I can pay for what I owe and leave my 10 or 15 percent tip while the ladies sit there with pen and paper in hand adding up who owes what. And while they took one car to get there, I would take my own and leave and meet them back at work.

Hey Jim...you are there to wait on customers. If they have special wants, you are there to make that happen. Quit your whining.

Ok, I get that sometimes women can be picky about their meals and may ask a lot of questions. But as long as they're not being rude to you, then its alright. I'm vegan and I ask A LOT of questions about the restaurant and the menu if I've never been there before, and if there can be none of this, very little of this or a lot of that. Oh, lemon with water takes away from the tap aftertaste, because its cheaper than having bottled water. Some of us are eating out every so often as a luxury and, while we can afford it, need to divvy up the bill. I hate it when people say its rude or unbecoming when they see parties do that. If you really feel that way, then you pay for the meal!

As a female, I will agree that women are a pain in the a..to serve..I know this from off and on customer service in public places myself, and knowing just how much of a b---- they can be. However, the male "KING LIKE attitudes" are also a big PAIN IN THE RUMP in serving, in the end, both sexes cut both ways. But as far as 'service' I do agree, women are more particular in keeping 'happy' and satisfied, while the males are just IMO, overall unappreciative, and are NEVER Satisfied in a multitude of areas in life when it comes to 'SERVICE' everything and anything is NEVER EVER GOOD ENOUGH all that one does HE WILL FIND SOMETHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT IT.

I agree with you 100%. As a general rule, women tip very badly and require 3x's the amount of work of a 10 person family, especially when they come in groups. I spent over a decade waiting tables, and I am a female, and I always tip a minimum of 30%. I also require about 20% more effort than the average guest, but I know my tip makes up for the hassle. If women would just bulk up their "special requests" and realize that a little extra compensation might make their future dining experiences a little happier, then we would all be a little better off. Stop hating on this guy for venting. He's stating a fact, and do you really think you could do his job BETTER than him? Didn't think so. Everyone needs a little breathing room now and again.
