Last night my family and I got a hankerin' for some sea
food. Now when I say Sea food i DO NOT mean
the boiled kind or the over processd , over fried , greesy
stuff you get at most sea food resturants. No
I mean real seafood the kind that is cooked at
home. Shimp (de-vained) fried golden brown in Mama's
old frying pan, Fish (flounder or maybe even catfish) fried or
grilled to perfection, and sides. Huge baked
potatoes, dripping in real butter, fresh green lettuce mixed with
other veggies for the perfect green salad,
and cole-slaw. And no southern meal would be complete without Sweet
Tea. (Not sweet iced tea, just
plain sweet tea. the ice is a given you don't have to say it.)
Yes that is what we wanted. What we got
could not have been farther away from the truth. There just Happend
to be a local returant re-opening
dowtown (after being closed for re-modeling) that had a seafood
platter on the menu. We , stupidly
decided to try it out. Upon walking in we imediatly spotted our
hair dresser, (a good sign we thought,
wrong.) we seated ourselves at a corner both in the back (the
non-smoking section) and scaned the
room. new paint, new tables, it all looked very nice. So far they
have an A in apperiance. The little girl
who was our waitress brought our teas and then left, giving us time
to look over the new menu. Directly
we ordered and waited. First up the salad. small in size, but okay
looking we dug in. My sister found a
hair in hers uh-oh..not good. We glanced at eachother and just let
it go. Hey, it happens we thought. T
hen came the eyelash. no-way we thought. Strike two. Then our mama
found dirt in hers. we started
laughing. then begging. "Mma please don't say anything
please...(hahaaha)" "There is dirt in the salad
what do you want me to do eat dirt?!" (giggle.) Okay after we
calmed down the meal finally came. The
shimp, small and soft were not de-vained,and only lightly fired.
Strike 3. On top of that the fries and
hushpuppies tasted exactly the same. Like greese.
"You're..Out!!!.." The highlight of the meal was
the
peach cobbler. It was the only thing worth even putting to your
lips. Next time we want seafood we will
be going with our gut and cooking at home! anyway More Later.
