User post: Travelling Food Trend Hits More Cities

user

The latest entrant to the gourmet truck trend is Spencer on the Go in San Francisco.  He joins the likes of the now famous Korean BBQ truck in Los Angeles where people have been reputed to wait three hours for a taco!  New York City has gone mobile with a cupcake truck.

Chef Laurent Katgely of Chez Spencer has started serving french fare from his new mobile kitchen across the street from Terroir Wine Bar (recently written up by the NYT). The chef hopes to expand the truck's route to include farmer's markets and other sites like popular parks. This latest French incarnation is sure to create some buzz among local foodies. No item from the gourmet menu which includes grilled sweetbreads, escargot puffs, and frog legs and curry, is priced above $9.

While Spencer on the Go might not have the romance of its parent restaurant, with Katgely behind the wheel it is likely to deliver some high-quality food at recession-friendly prices.
