If you are looking for a great economical steak dinner - then this just might be the recipe for you. Firstly, there is no alcohol involved, unless you want to have some wine while preparing this dish! Secondly, London Broil is what we call in our house, the poor man's steak. If prepared right, it is better than most filets!

Here's what you need:

1 London Broil Steak (1-2lbs.)

1/2 c. olive oil

salt (sea salt) & pepper (freshly ground, always, please)

3 Tblsp. Steak seasoning, usually found in the spice aisle

Squeeze of lime

3 cloves finely chopped garlic

1 shallot chopped

Place in a large plastic zip bag and marinate up to 24hours.

Bloody Mary Topping

1 can finely diced tomatoes

1 Tblsp. horseradish

1 Tblsp. pepper

1 Tblsp. celery salt

Squeeze of lime

Worcestershire Sauce

Combine the ingredients and let them marry, you can do this a day ahead.

2 hours before serving - remove the steak from the bag and let it get to room temperature.

Preheat a gas or charcoal grill to high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and pat dry with paper towels. Place the steak on the grill (or under the broiler) and cook til done, about 6 minutes per side for rare. Let the meat stand for 5 minutes before carving. This is super important, letting the meat rest returns all the juices to the meat and prevents them from running out onto your cutting board.

Slice across the grain, this also cuts the connective tissue and makes the meat more tender. Pour sauce over the meat and enjoy.
