Vitatops: A Dairy-Free Breakfast Pick

I take breakfast very seriously. So when I decided to cut milk products out of my life for a week as part of my cleanse, I had to get a little creative. (I start my day off with Greek yogurt pretty much six times a week.) During this stressful process I discovered a new breakfast favorite; Vitatops ($16 for a pack of 12).

I will admit that I often passed by the freezer section of the supermarket and and wondered about Vitatops. But I always strayed away because I figured muffin tops can't be the healthiest way to start off a day. Well, my friend who was also on this milk-free week regimen took the plunge and convinced me to try them with this passionate phone message: "I am obsessed with these things! I mean, its a muffin top, the best part of a muffin. It's not dry; actually I love it toasted! And I can't wait to dip it into a glass of milk when this stupid cleanse is over!" I broke down and tried them soon after her convincing message and agreed with her. These cakey, moist 100-calorie breakfast treats are ideal; not only are they all natural and made with whole grains, but they aren't too sweet or artificial tasting.  Plus! they have zero saturated fat and cholesterol. My favorites are the Banana Nut, which is new, and the MultiBran.

Now that I am back on milk I have been eating Vitatops toasted with a dollop of yogurt and drizzled honey or peanut butter.
