What to Eat After Getting Your Wisdom Teeth Removed?

Since having two wisdom teeth extracted one week ago, I have been eating lots of soup, pudding, oatmeal, and applesauce. Eggs, very ripe bananas, smashed potatoes, fruit smoothies, and lox have also made their way into my stomach but with another week of healing to go, I am missing foods that are savory like burritos, crunchy like granola, and chewy like rice, shrimp or even a simple green salad. The oral surgeon suggested tiramisu and a colleague mentioned flan, but what I could really go for right now is a juicy, ripe apple. I might just drive myself crazy thinking only about foods I can't or shouldn't have!

So help me out: What foods did you find yourself craving after oral surgery and what did you do about it? In the end, what foods sustained you?

I had my four wisdom teeth taken out years ago, plus one that crumbled, so five total. I "ate" chicken broth, chix noodle soup, yogurt, jell-o, instant breakfasts, baby food in jars (recommended by dentist). It was tourture for two weeks, couldn't eat REAL food, didn't look in a mirror either my face was so swollen.

I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed in August of this year, and for 2 weeks I ate only what I could mush up easily. Alot of applesauce, soup and other soft foods, which was ok with me because I couldn't open my mouth far at all.

Ice cream, yogurt, some baby food (lots of vitamins and some of it is ok tasting), pudding. I even lost weight because I couldn't keep anything down

I probably most enjoyed my puddings and ice cream. I must admit though that I evidently had amazing oral surgeon. My face never really swelled (have a passport pic to prove it) and after the 3rd day I went off the pain meds having never experienced any pain... but I definintely err3d on the side of caution. I also had jello, stuffing, lukewarm soup, yogurt, mashed potatoes... I don't really have any unique suggestions.

I don't know who your oral surgeons were, but I had all 4 impacted wisdom teeth out, was conscious but didn't care with liquid Valium, and was able to eat normally within a couple of days. This was 20 years ago.

I didnt alter what I ate. When i was on the way home w/ the gauze in mouth still I was trying to eat fast food! Just make sure you rinse it out often and you can eat what you want.

I had mashed potatoes, soups, yogurt, ice cream and slightly overcooked rice mixed w/ cream of chicken soup(still condensed).

I got so sick of eating that stuff that a few days later I attempted to eat semi-chewy foods. Big mistake. I ended up eating the mushy food again for almost a week, because I irritated my wounds.

if you like burritos try cheese enchiladas with refried beans add a little chicken broth and some taco seasoning to your beans to help with flavor it will all be soft enough to eat and it is has that savory compound that most soups are missing

Just have soft foods or liquids. I've had teeth pulled and that's what it came down to. It only lasts a few days . Your gums close up pretty quickly.
