10 cool kitchen gadget gifts for people who (want to) cook healthy

I’m a sucker for kitchen gadgets, but only for the ones I know I will actually use. I have lots of them, and I use… well, most of them, anyway. Here are FatFighterTV’s picks for great kitchen gadgets that will come in handy for all those cooking fans on your list.

OXO Fat Separator - No more fat in your gravy, soup, or stock with this heat-resistant plastic tool. It separates fat from lean, leaving the healthy juices to flow from the spout. Comes with a removable strainer and stopper.

Precision Spoon-Scale - Fine tune your recipes with this spoon-scale combo - two useful gadgets in one. Measure wet or dry ingredients for perfect baking. Scoop out just the right amount of sugar, salt,or flour. LCD display in the handle measures weight.

Potato Ricer - This gadget lets you make perfect mashed potatoes with ease. Just put the potatoes in the hopper and press the handle. The ricer uses air as it squeezes out boiled potatoes in rice-like grains. The result - fluffy, smooth mashed potatoes.

Herb Scissors - No chopping needed with this cool contraption. Just snip the herbs you need quickly and neatly. The scissors have five, sharp stainless steel blades that let you cut, chop or mince herbs directly into a pan or over a plate for garnishing.

SmartShopper Automated Grocery List Assistant- Uses state-of-the-art voice recognition technology. Just press a button and say the name of a grocery item you will need on your next shopping trip. A large LCD Screen shows the items that have been input into the unit, in alphabetical order. When you are ready to shop, print out a list with the built-in thermal printer. Comes with a magnet so you can keep it on the refrigerator. It can also be wall mounted, or just stored in a drawer.

Batter Dispenser - This handy dispenser measures out uniform circles of batter without messy drips or spills. Made of durable plastic with an easy-to-pull trigger and three size settings, it’s ideal for dispensing pancake, waffle or muffin batter neatly onto a hot griddle or into a pan. Even batters with small berries or chocolate chips easily flow through the dispenser’s valve. Dishwasher safe.

Oilless Turkey Fryer - This turkey cooker uses infrared technology instead of oil to "fry" a turkey. Propane-fueled burner heats the chamber and stainless steel walls distribute the heat. It has a drop-in basket and automatically cooks at the correct temperature. The fryer can cook a 12-pound bird in one hour and fifty minutes - speedy! There is also a drip pan for catching juices for gravy.

miBook - (pronounced My Book), this multimedia cookbook explodes with video clips, images & sound. Move through recipes step-by-step seeing exactly how your food should look every step of the way. The 7-inch portable player offers Food Network content, including healthy recipes (sold separately).

Prepara Herb Savor - Prolongs the life of fresh herbs for up to 3 weeks so you get the most out of them. The ends of the herb stems are slightly submerged in water to keep the plants fresh, while the rest of the leaves stay cool and dry - not smushed together and damp like regular bags or containers. Fits neatly in a typical refrigerator door.

Remote Thermometer Monitor - A meat thermometer and timer that lets you monitor food's progress from up to 100 feet away using a wireless transmitter probe which sends temperature updates to a handheld receiver. Leaves you free to do other things instead of having to watch and wait for cooking to finish. Audible voice alerts tell you when your food has reached pre-set temperature.

For anyone wanting to prevent the onset of a kitchen fire you have to check out the StoveTop FireStop? StoveTop FireStop is an automatic fire extinguisher specifically for your cooktop. It's about the size of a tuna can and magnetizes underneath the venthood. When it's flame activated, it releases a fire suppressing powder and automatically puts out the fire so you don't even have to pick up a fire extinguisher. Check out the website at www.stovetopfirestop.com.
