Reaching a beach in Trinidad, she became the first woman on record
to swim across the Atlantic Ocean
— a dream she'd had since the early 1960s.
The 56-year-old left the Cape Verde Islands off Africa's
western coast on Jan 12, battling waves of up to 30 feet (9 meters)
and strong winds. She arrived in Trinidad on Feb 5 at 17:20pm.
If she can do it, you can do it.

Report AbuseHoly c**p what about sharks???? This is not an "if she can do it, you can too" type of achievement. She must have had a boat traveling along side of her dropping food and water down to her. I guess she just relieved herself in the ocean? Yuck! Not for me. Kudos to Ms. Figge for fulfilling her dream.

Report AbuseThanks Paris for the comment, and yeah, I love that film. You know how the Lion King came out at 1994? Well, I was born at that year too, so yeah. The Lion King and I are growing up together. -Hmstommy
