Biggest Loser Club: Burn, baby, burn!

How can you burn off at least 500 calories in half an hour? Ah! You're gonna have to watch this quick video of The Biggest Loser trainer Bob Harper to find out. (But you'll be glad you did!)

Below are three tips from The Biggest Loser trainers on how to get and stay in shape!

  • It's okay to give into cravings. Losing weight and keeping it off means balance, not going without treats for the rest of your life.
  • Use a food journal to track what triggers overeating--stress, a celebration, or being with certain people. Identifying these trigger situations will help you put a stop to them.
  • If you don't have a measuring cup available, use your fist to figure out correct portions. from chicken to vegetables, just about every portion you'll eat is about the size of your fist.

Is a spinner bike different than the regular stationary bike at the gym. I do an hour of cardio per day and the bike seems to always register lowest burned calories and I am peddlin like mad at a level 9 (highest level is 15) So today I am going to try level 15 and see if the increase is greatly significant

Spinning is one of the best-and hardest workouts I've ever done. I always feel as if I accomplished some small feat whenever I've finished the class. This was the class to boost my 30 lb weight loss and I encourage everyone to give it a try. I suggest the first class, just to sit on the bike and just ride to get use to the seat. But I love this class cause you do burn a lot of calories and the sweat effect is amazing.

The information is misleading...burning 500 calories in 30 minutes is not accurate. If you weigh a lot, you'll burn more calories, but you also have to stay in a high training zone. You can't just hop on and spin like crazy for 30 minutes and expect to burn 500 calories! That is ridiculous. Do yourself a favor...buy a good heart rate monitor and track your own heart rate and caloric burn. You'll see that much of what the trainers on this show espouse is hype and BS. Sure, it's a great workout. But you need to know how to do it correctly and SAFELY.

PS I think Bob and the other trainers are the biggest losers on the show. Real, professional trainers don't abuse their clients the way they do. It's shameful.

So what's the big deal ?Backpackers carrying heavy loads up and down hills all day will easily burn those numbers and have the added benefit of being outdoors rather than in some stinky old gym
