Can bananas cure depression?
partner
Apples are great, but you
might want to change your mantra to "a banana a day." Did
you know that they can help with this major health issue...
****
Eat a banana, get happy,
according to Dr. Caroline Longmore, author of The Serotonin
Secret. She says depression could be blamed on lack of
serotonin, the "happy hormone," and that you can boost
your body's serotonin levels by eating foods rich in the amino
acid tryptophan like cottage cheese, turkey--and bananas! She
recommends eating at least four bananas a week.
Check out these 5 foods to boost your mood!
Funny, I frequently grab a banana when I'm feeling a little
blah (like yesterday). And, I think they really do lift my
spirits.
Have you heard of the banana-happiness connection? And
are bananas one of your go-to fruits?
Go bananas:
*The banana diet (yes, there is such a thing).
*Glam bananas.
*Frozen bananas.

Eat bananas, get FAT. A serving is actually 1/2 of a medium banana so watch out how much you eat.

I eat bananas at least 3 to 4 times a week and I have to agree. I get the servings of fruit, cure some of the sugar cravings and feel great. I think the B12 also helps boost the energy levels.

"eat bananas get fat"? are you kidding me? Seriously, even if bananas have extra calories or sugar, they are the good kind of fats that work with your body. Want a snack? Eat a banana, not only will it make you feel fuller, but it isn't a bag of chips and its easy to eat on the run. Seriously, get fat, thats insane. The banana has sooooo many vitamins and nutrients that your body NEEDS!!! Like the amino acid talked about in the article, but also vitamin C, and POTASSIUM!!! Your body cannot function without potassium. I would take a little bit of calories for a healthy body any day. seriously if you are that worried about your weight, go see a doctor!

Here is my experience:
I have been eating 2 bananas a day and I have noticed that if I skip a few days my leg cramps come back. I read once before that it was due to a potassium deficiency and now I really believe that. I even had testing done on my legs because i thought I might have had a blood clot. I didn't even realize the true cause until I really started paying attention.
Eat those nanners.. they're good for ya !!

LOL to nnylamom! How about "open your mouth and breath air, get fat" or "drink water, get fat." Geez, what can we eat anymore, how silly!

I don't understand why we are still demonizing certain fruits and vegetables in their natural form (or cooked).
Nuts, avocados, potatoes, bananas these are great additions to a daily diet. Yes they can my startchy and high in vegetable fat but its much healthier than processed junk food.

I've heard something similar. Apparently, bananas make you less nervous. I first heard about it during a band event from one of my fellow flutists and I didn't believe her at first. Later when we went to an area where snacks were being sold and there was a whole table full of bananas, I figured she might be onto something. I've tried eating bananas when I'm nervous and it actually seems to work.

No one mentioned how inexpensive they are, too. That and a yogurt is the perfect one dollar breakfast.
