Can Veggie Juice Help You Lose Weight?

Supercharge your diet with a glass of V8!

By Janice Graham

Here's a surprising way to supercharge any diet -- and your health: Chug a glass of low-sodium vegetable juice every day. In a study of 81 overweight adults at risk for heart disease and diabetes, those who drank at least a cup of low-sodium V8 daily lost four pounds over 12 weeks, while those on the same reduced-fat diet who drank no juice lost one pound.

"Many of the study participants reported feeling fuller after drinking the vegetable juice, which may be why it helps weight-loss efforts," says study leader John Foreyt, PhD, of the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Well, I don't really know that it helps a person lose weight. But I would say that it helps people make sure they're getting the RDA of veggies. It's sometimes hard to do that each day with every meal.

I love V-8, haven't had it in a long time because it tends to be too acidic and triggers my acid reflux. Perhaps I should give it a try again.

I have a glass of low sodium V8 plus a dash of natural apple cider vinegar every afternoon (the ACV is the only odd thing I do in my diet, I'm not sure I'm sold on all the health benefits of ACV, but it sure livens up the bland V8). This drink fills me up mid-day and keeps me from snacking on less healthy things before dinner. I can honestly say I have lost weight while doing this. I recommend it to everyone.

TravelAddict1967, maybe you can try the V8 Fruit Fushion. It has 1 serving of vegs and 1 of fruits. It doesn't seem very acidic to me, so it may be okay for you to drink without having it trigger your acid reflux. I like the fruit fushion, but not the regular V8 juice.

I wonder if the V8 fruit/veg blends work as well too... cause like TAY I don't like the regular V8... But I worry about the sugar content.

Or you could just eat fruit and veggies...

You could just get a juicer, and juice your own. It's not hard, and not over processed like V8.

I love V8 but I like the fusion better, it tastes like juice (can't stand veggie taste) and you need to be feeling hungry to drink it because it's thick consistency!
