My husband and I visited Harrison Hotsprings Resort in British Columbia this past week and found good prices on this comfortable luxury resort but also a good walk at the Cheam Lake Wildlife Reserve. This is the second time we visited, earlier attempts were blocked in the past years because of fire hazard due to the lack of rains. The earlier visit was almost 15 years previous so we found much different. There's picnic tables, a river walk, a loop trail, some history about the extraction of marl, and a boardwalk out into the lake. We didn't see many fish. I did spot several frogs, slugs, snails, rabbits, a mole, lots of robins and evidence of the bear they warned about. A great blue heron flew in just as we were leaving. This shows that the recovery efforts are making progress. They'd like to restore salmon to the creek--they put in a beautful creekside walk that is well worth the effort to walk along. It's quite the fun attraction and the Cascade mountains provide a beautiful backdrop.
