Ease Your Headache -- Without Medication

Got that familiar pounding in your noggin, but are loath to pop another pill? Try one of these all-natural remedies:

For Ordinary Headaches

1) Sew an eye pillow filled with dried lavender and keep it in the freezer. When a headache hits, apply the cold compress to your head. The relaxing scent will also give you relief. Lavender is also a good sleep-inducer -- find out more here.

2) Stock up on fresh produce. Researchers found that women who eat two cups of fresh produce daily have 70 percent fewer headaches. Plant foods are rich in phytonutrients, compounds that reduce inflammation in the brain’s blood vessels, making them less likely to spasm painfully.

For Migraines

1) Ice or heat packs may relieve the pressure, but studies show that taking 50 to 75 mg of butterbur extract twice a day can decrease the number of attacks.

2) You can also try the DIY acupressure techniques described here on QuickandSimple.com.

3) To help prevent migraine attacks, ingest a medley of nutrients like selenium, vitamin C, zinc and vitamin E, or two to three cups of green tea daily. Got allergies? Learn how green tea can help with that too.
