My local grocery store only had high sugar Grade A Maple Syrup and it was in no way organic. They also had Pure Cane Syrup which was all natural, no additives, and much lower in sugar(only 80 cals a tsp). I went with the latter but now I'm concerned it won't work the same way. Any ideas?

Report AbuseHoney? Are you specifically giving maple syrup up for lent, or just trying to find a good organic one? What are you using the maple syrup for? If it is pancakes or waffles, there really is no substitute (IMHO), but if it is for flavoring things, raw, organic honey may do the trick. Or agave nectar...
