But one particular pedestrian really caught our eye. She was wearing a PRODUCT (RED) T-shirt. You've probably seen similar shirts to the one we saw today, but do you know why their logo is found at stores like the Gap? The organization created the Global Fund to provide free ARVs (anti retro viral drugs for the treatment of HIV) to African families in need, and has teamed with companies like Converse, Apple, and Motorola to get funding and people involved to help make a difference.
Christy Turlington is a spokesperson for the foundation. "Through purchasing products we already love and want, we're able to contribute in a big way to this country getting out of the position that they're in. They bring a tremendous amount of relief to a whole family, and they also strengthen the infected person," says Christy. So it warmed our hearts even more on this wonderful day to realize that people care about the well-being of others and are proud to be a part of something so self-less.
We love it when people give back. Don't you?
