HCG Diet Journal: The First Appointment & Body Assesment - number 2

Consultation day - Battle Ground, Washington.

For those of you who don't know me - My name is Kate.  I am a 34-year-old mother of three children.  Overall I consider myself to have a pretty good shape, but being pregnant 5 times in five years (I miscarried twice) is hard on a body and leaves fat in places that isn't exactly the kind of souvenir a girl wants!

Today I am going into the office for a medical visit with Brittney, a body mass assesment and instructions to self-inject the HCG and the diet.

After checking in with Angelia at the front desk and filling out some paperwork, I am handed over to Shannon to get a baseline physical assesment.  Every two weeks I will go up to the clinic for reassesment and measurement to track my progress and to ensure that I am not losing muscle mass, just fat.

I was expecting a set of calipers and a tape measure - while there was a tape measure, the calipers and guessing has been replaced by a digital reader that very accurately reads your body's content: the good, the bad and the ugly!!

Shannon is a personal trainer and also a friend of Brittneys.  With a digital reader attached to her lap top, Shannon uses a handheld device that looks like a sonogram reader and measures my fat, muscle and water content at my thigh above my knee, my hip and the back of my bicept.  We talk about my height, get an accurate weight (BLAH!) and activity level.

(I'll post the paperwork that Shannon generated in it's own post next).

The basic numbers looked like this...
I'm six feet tall, weigh 213 pounds and am considered medically overweight to obese.

Um, not fun - but this is how it begins, right?
