What is healthy eating? It seems that we are all so caught up in diets and whatnot that we forget what healthy eating really is.
Eating healthy is eating fresh foods, and a well balanced diet. I have been reading a lot of things online lately, and I am quite disappointed. The approach to food is quite poor.
Instead of trying to figure out how to eat our cake with out consequences, why don't we instead teach ourselves new and healthy habits.
It took eating cake to crave it, so why not try eating fresh fruits instead? Eventually you will get used to it and actually enjoy it. Well, I have anyway.
I recently read Tosca Reno's "Eat Clean Diet Book", and WOW! I was blown away. It was awesome, and easy to read. She basically explained why we need to eat healthy and how always buying the "diet" foods from the stores will not make you a healthy eater. What I learned from the book is that eating the proper portion sizes of healthy foods- is what our bodies crave.
For example, I eat six mini-meals a day. All a balance of lean protein ( like chicken, fish, and egg whites), whole grains ( wheat bread, oats...etc.) and fruits/veggies. I feel and look better than I ever have. Now I have never been "overweight" per say, but I like everyone else had body issues, and now that I know I am doing what is best for my body, I don't need to count calories or watch fat grams.
Why? Because I am eating real food that is good for my body and gives me energy.
This is what healthy eating is to me.
Sorry for rambling on, but it is something I wanted to share, mostly because reading the book changed my life, and I wanted to share my thoughts with others.
Thank you for reading.
Oh, and a very special THANK YOU to Tosca Reno for impacting my life through her book.
