How to Lose Weight and Stop Self-Sabotage with Diet and Exercise Habits

It’s very easy to get frustrated with your body when it does not conform to your will. Self-disgust self-loathing and unconstructive criticism is like a poison that comes into your mind and destroys your weight loss dream. It’s time to eliminate these self-sabotaging actions out of your life. Here is what you need to do:

  1. Stop getting on the scale every day. Your scale does not tell you how many inches you’ve lost. It does not tell you how the muscle, bone and heart are getting stronger and healthier. Besides, your weight can fluctuate from 3-5 lbs each day!
  2. Stop waiting until you’re slimmer to do nice things for yourself. When you hold yourself hostage from good treatment, you’re sending yourself a message that says, “You are not good enough until you lose weight.” Happiness is not exclusively for slender people.
  3. Stop obsessing over the size of your clothes. (Go ahead and cut the labels out of your clothes if you need to) Focus on the solution, not the problem. Your size does not determine your self-worth.

  4. Start loving your body regardless of how much you weigh, because you are always going to be the same person inside. Make strides to improve your character and spirituality as you lose weight.

  5. Respect your body for keeping you alive. Appreciate how the heart beats and how the brain thinks. Your negative thoughts send negative messages to your body that affect your physically. Enjoy your weight loss journey because it will make you a stronger and wiser person. You are the only “you” that has ever been, or ever will be, which means you’re really special.

A healthy dose of self-acceptance coupled with well defined motives for losing weight are the prerequisites for successful healthy weight loss. Keeping a positive motive and mindset is paramount to staying on track with any weight loss program. It’s important to stay inspired and encouraged through the process of making healthy lifestyle changes.
