Most times we use food as rewards, celebrations and bottom line pleasure. With that mind set no wonder so many of us are over weight. Even our children and teens. We should view food as our fuel. ALL foods release a chemical reaction in our bodies. Protein produces one type of effect, carbohydrates another and fats a completely different reaction. So once we understand those principles we should look at each meal period as having each of those present on our plates. In eating this way we will have a "well balanced" meal. Something that has been forgotten with fast food, microwavable meals. This should be the first step in solving your food cravings.
If you are a woman between the ages of 13-45, step 1 will not be enough. We are still hormonal and at those times of the month you will experience food cravings. By adding in supplementation your binging will not occur as often. Taking a good quality multi-vitamin at night before you go to sleep will help keep you nourished with the vitamins that are lacking from the food you eat. Adding in extra minerals, calcium, magnesium, zinc and iron will also help. You can find a combination of these minerals at most health food stores. These supplements should also be taken at night just before going to bed. Lastly, taking B-12 in the morning when first wake will help "jump-start" your system better than caffine. I recommend a sublingual form of B-12. Trust me it doesn't taste bad. They come flavored with a cherry flavoring making it very easy to use.
Drinking water and staying hydrated throughout the day is also necessary. Most times when we think we are hungry we are actually thirsty. So drink lots of water before during and after your meals. Our bodies are mostly made up of water so keeping those cells hydrated are extremely necessary in keeping your digestive systems working effeciently.
In closing, follow everything I've mentioned and you find that your cravings for food will diminsh. You will have more energy throughout the day. Eating small meals every 3-4 hours will also keep you satisfied. And just know you CAN control your eating - food DOES NOT have to control you. The problem you have is chemical - not YOU - and it can be fixed with these easy to follow steps.
