How well do you monitor your periods?

Poor Britney Spears can't seem to catch a break. Her tour, while sold out and getting rave reviews, has been riddled with on-stage flubs (cursing, wardrobe malfunctions, you name it), and recently she got into a, um, big mess, with ELLE. Apparently Brit had a photoshoot with the fashion mag and an insider says it was an utter disaster. "They dressed her in all these beautiful couture clothes -- and, well, let's just say she forgot what time of the month it was," says the source. "It wasn't pretty." Yuck.

That has got to be a woman's worst nightmare. Sure, woman bleed, but this incident is pretty humilating and gross. For a long time my periods were so sporadic I never knew what day they they would come, but thankfully I never had an embarrassing accident like Britney. Now I am on the pill, and my monthly visit comes pretty much to the hour every four weeks. I can't tell you how reassuring and helpful that has become.

Do you take careful note of when to expect your monthly period? Do you use a pantyliner or do anything precautionary, or do you just cross your fingers and hope for the best? [NY Post]

Mine has been coming twice a month so of course keeping up with it is so important for me. Plus my stomach will start to cramp really bad and I know its that time again. And then I become depressed cause I have to deal with that for 5 days. But I love being a woman and would never ever want to be a man:)

Just because you can forget you period does not make you unresponsible. My period is not regular and definetly comes whenever it feels like it. But I usually get some intuition that lets me know I'm about to start with enough notice to get to the bathroom, and my purse is always prepared. But I do forget and it's just a hectic life where my days go by this saturday, next friday not oh its the 18th I'm going to start my period today. That does not at all make me irresponsible!

This is ridiculous. People are not like robots and computers with everything working on an exact schedule. I for one have never been able to tell when my period is coming. NEVER!!! I tried once to write down the beginning days for about a year. The time in between was always random. 36 days, 54 days 28 days, 65 days! Some people are naturally irregular. On the bright side, not only do i get more of a break than most who have it every month like clockwork but it was also the cause for my having my beautiful fraternal twin boys! My body was trying to "catch up" and put out two eggs at once! Some may wonder why I don't take the pill. It's because I have a minor blood clotting factor that could cause me to die if I take the pill. I didn't find out until i was 29. I tried to take it when I was 19 but back then the pill made me fat, miserable and rather unattractive because of the zits it caused!

Poor Brit, I feel sorry for her. Not only because shes got other problems but now she has judgemental yahoo women bashing her for not knowing her period was coming. How ridiculous.

I have always known more or less when my period was going to start..and I keep myself prepared for it. But in my case as I have aged my warning signs have also changed. Before I would have pretty painful cramps the day before. But now at 47 and peri menopausal I get a really bad headached a day or two before.

I don't keep track of it that much anymore..but my boyfriend does...he has a chart on his pc at work...he calls it "self-preservation" did I mention I get a bit crabby right before?? LOL

Sometimes a period doesn't stop, period. It just teases you and makes you think it's coming, then it doesn't, then it hits you hard. People with endometriosis, fibroids or cysts don't have the same control over our periods, even with the pill. I have stage 4 endometriosis, and let me tell you...it's an embarrassing nightmare! There's always a chance that you'll have an accident because you're bleeding non-stop sometimes. It was controlled a little better with the pill, but sometimes the side effects of these are worse! One birth control pill messed up my hormones so badly, I could've committed suicide. So, I stopped taking them. yes, I still have moments where I have to hold my breath when I walk in front of people at that time of the day, week or month, and pray that nothing has leaked. So, when I see other women have accidents, you have to feel for them, not accuse them of being stupid. You never know what is going on inside a woman's body.

well one reason maybe that you are stressing over it and its making it harder for it toome, another could be that your cycle could have gotten consequdently restarted whenur around alot of otha women, it could be becuase of a new moon, or your just lying to the world and yourslef and your probably pregnant...
