I am sick of 'misfits'

No, I'm not being mean.  Unless, of course, you're providing misleading, inaccurate, or misguided fitness information to the masses.  Get it?  Misfits.  Ha.

Except its not funny.  There are way too many individuals who proclaim the 'secret' to losing weight, the 'new' breakthrough in fitness, the 'thing my mom's cousin's girlfriend SWORE made her lose weight and tone up in 4 weeks.'  I'm tired of it.  I'm tired of people telling me (a fitness professional) about their great new diet.  Of people telling me that eating late at night causes weight-gain.  Of people swearing you burn more calories if you work out before breakfast.

All this information is either just plain wrong, or its misleading.  It's like this blog I read about 'negative calorie foods.'  Okay, a) there's no such thing as a negative calorie food, and b) when I (politely) posted a comment stating this fact--that there IS such a thing as just plain healthy eating, but that 'negative calorie' is a misleading statement, the blogger refused to post my comment.

I'm convinced that if we all just faced facts: working out sucks, losing weight is hard, & eating healthy takes a conscious desire to change old habits, we would all end up being healthier.  Facing the reality of the situation means that you will tackle the problem with a realistic solution, rather than a "magic bullet."

It's time to get mad!  It's time to stop buying weight-loss pills & infomercial ab-blasters.  It's time to start a food/exercise journal, track your eating habits & activity levels, & then make changes that will fit with your lifestyle.  There's no 'perfect plan.'  It's about balance, moderation, and cold hard reality.  So face the facts, deal with the situation, and make real-life changes that will ACTUALLY work!

I agree with you. The only thing is, most Americans go with what is easiest. I love the way exercise makes me feel. I know the difference of feeling good when I make healthy eating choices. But I have been like that since I was in junior high. I don't think I will ever change that way of being in my life. I love to look good but feeling good on the inside is the first and best thing for me. I never have been into any pills to lose weight, I never needed them. My mind set is because my mom has always been the kind of person to not want to look and feel good for the moment. She insists that being healthy is who you want to be and not what you try to be. It is not hard making the decision to be healthy and thin. It's hard when you don't really want to.

I totally agree with you. I have a blog about people who have successfully lost 100 lbs (including me very, very soon). The majority of people I've interviewed have found success the old fashion way--writing it down, exercising, changing habits, staying motivated. There's a ton of misinformation out there. Although I do believe that when people find what works for them why knock it? If it leads to a happier, healthier person then bravo!

First: I am not fat nor overweight. I'm actually on the skinny side, BUT I do know many who do have difficulty with weight. The ancient Greeks used to say "All things in moderation", and they were right.

I'm not trying to preach, but help. No matter what you eat or drink do it in moderation and it will pay off. Good luck.
