I want an elliptiGO!

Okay, I'm going to preface this by saying I am very picky about exercise equipment. There are very few pieces of equipment that I openly endorse. My short list includes the Bosu Ball, the Arc Trainer, & well, that's about it. Usually, I find that as long as a person exercises regularly & they're getting results, who cares how they go about getting them? But, when I saw this prototype for a new piece of outdoor cardio equipment, I thought, "I want one!"

The elliptiGO is basically a cross between an elliptical trainer & a bike, enabling you to "run" outside without the impact of actually running. Genius! I love running, but my knees can only take so much, ya know?

So why not just get a bike? Well, I guess it depends on what you're looking for in a workout. Personally, I want to get the biggest bang for my buck, and with the increased wind resistance generated from working in a standing position, you're bound to be burning additional calories. Plus, I'm not a huge fan of "butt burn," that horribly painful numbing/soreness caused from riding a bike for extended periods of time.

The elliptiGO won't be ready for resale until sometime in 2009, but if you go to their site and participate in their survey, you can give them feedback on the prototype and ideas to make it even better. Check out the video below to get the full effect of how cool the elliptiGO really is!

what an amazing concept, but the $2000-$4000 price is a little too expensive for my taste.
