It's Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day: Can you resist or will you give in?

To celebrate the anniversary of scooping deliciousness into cones, Ben & Jerry's is offering a free ice cream cones today. Believe me, if there was a Ben & Jerry's conveniently located near the place where I sit and type all day, I would surely be there ordering up a sorbet or frozen yogurt.

Oh, who am I kidding? I would be licking Coffee, Coffee BuzzBuzzBuzz from a sugar cone right this minute. This would not align with my decaffeination process or my commitment to cut back on sugar since the Easter candy started calling to me a few weeks ago. It's best, then, that there's not a scoop shop nearby, or at least one with a parking space within blocks.

Come on, confess your free cone feelings! What about you? Will you take part in Free Cone Day? If you do, is it a sanctioned treat in your eating plan? Or a splurge in your regular healthy eating? Could this just be another sideline to your attempts to get your snacking in check?

And if you do choose a free cone, will you request a scoop of something with less sugar or fat?

Does a "free" day make you crazy or is it really a nice treat?

I won't, for two reasons: There's no Ben & Jerry's nearby, and I'm allergic to dairy. Oh well. :)

I won't either, and also for two reasons. No Ben & Jerry's near me and I don't like ice cream.

I'm sure there must be Ben & Jerry's around here, but I don't know where. There are no Marble Slab locations in NY either so I'm safe. When I eat ice cream, I eat Weight Watchers ice cream. It satisfies my craving, and it's not as bad as many other choices a person can make.

Cheers to those who don't have to care, but for me...a free ice cream day is nothing more than something for someone else to enjoy. I'll enjoy my day in other ways. =)

I did! It was awesome too! I didn't know this was going on until I was at the beach in Yorktown and some kids we know told us about it. Great cause: giving the money to a free clinic in Hampton, VA. Thanks Ben and Jerry's.

I am fortunate enough to work in a building where there is a Ben & Jerry's, so I did one better. I went and told everyone else in the building about Free Cone Day. Which means it's time for me to go and get my own free cone before they run out. :)

Why would it drive anyone crazy? It's ONE scoop of ice-cream/sorbet. Everything in moderation. I understand that some people will not be able to partake due to location or allergies (or other medical reasons), but for those who have access to it, why not take a few moments to go outside and enjoy a scoop of ice-cream or sorbet on a warm Spring day. Life is too short to deny yourself some simple pleasures.

I did not have a cone - not b/c I hate B&J. Cherry Garcia is my fav. And, not because there isn't one near me - its right around the corner. But, my reason is far more pathetic - I forgot!
