I did it. I scooted down to my neighborhood YMCA, laid down a chunk of change, and officially invested in my weight loss challenge.
I’ve been a “member” of gyms before – the YMCA, Gold’s Gym, a place called Ford’s Fitness that my husband liked because it smelled like sweat more than any other place and had a huge garage door that opened that I think made him feel like he was more manly working out in a garage than a gym.
I don’t particularly enjoy working out. If I have 30 extra minutes in a day, I don’t say, “Hmmm, I think sweating and pushing my muscles to uncomfortable limits sounds nice.” I usually say, “Oh, look what the TiVo was nice enough to record for me.
But, I don’t particularly like my butt or thighs either, and no matter how many carrots I eat, those things will not improve without some good, old-fashioned exercise. So now I am officially a member of the YMCA, and I am one step closer to being 10 pounds lighter.
