Large-chested ladies, how many sports bras do you wear at once?

Why is it that nearly every active woman I know is constantly on the quest for the perfect sports bra? And why is it that many of us end up with a squished uni-boob or jimmy-rigging some kind of support contraption anyway?

I thought about this yesterday when I was getting ready for a quick run -- and prepare yourselves, I am going to over-share in 3...2...1 -- and I wiggled into my new favorite combination of heart-rate monitor sports bra over my regular underwire bra. I don't love layering up, especially for a summer workout, but I am happy to have the support I need without looking like I am carrying a cat in my microfiber tank top.

Sure, I'd love to get my hands on the elusive, powerhouse sports bra. I'd especially love it if one that could handle what I have to put in it cost less than $75 and didn't look like something my grandmother wore in 1977. Perhaps that makes me sound too picky, but I think that is balanced out by my inevitable willingness to wear multiple bras for a 20-minute run through the neighborhood.

I know a lot of women who layer up their sports bras. Most of them have only confessed to wearing two at a time. However, I did have a large-chested friend who had no problem sharing her three-bra formula for safe and supported workouts. Three bras! Unrolling and getting them over her head probably took her longer than her entire Jazzercise class.

Have you found the perfect sports bra for your body? If so, do share the powerhouse that's keeping you together.

And if not, how many sports bra layers are holding you up, in, and relatively bounce-free while you exercise?

I myself I have worn not only two bras but duct tape over top of the bras for a horseshow. In watching a video of a previous jumping round I was ashamed to see that my boobs seemed to be the main focus point. I ended up placing well and continued to do so until I found a decent bra and worked well enough by itself. That happened right after I hit puberty... gotta love it

I too have to layer bras when I work out. I usually take a crappy under wire bra and then put a sports bra over it. I totally understand about the uni boob and have yet to find a good sports bra to give me support and not strangle me at the same time.

i totally get you guys. i will usually wear an underwire with a sports bra for normal workouts, but if i'm going on a more intense run, or something that involves more jumping, i'll add another or a tank top with the built in bra,

Ha, ha! I just commented on this subject the other day. Typically, two — one that's more fitted and is more like a real bra, and another on top that just sort of packs everything in (like the one shown above in the picture.) This helps particularly for running/jogging.

1... I have found the Champion bras are the best... their large chest sports bras actually keep things in place... I should know being a 36 D and it still holds it in place, even during aerobics.

Oh and I really don't care if they are "stylish" so I can go without a tshirt... I only care that they hold.... cause I don't like layering either and it hurts me to wear the more trendy sports bras.

I'm a 34DDD and I found an underwire sports bra from Champion, I got a 36DD and moved the hooks . It looks like a normal sports bra with the T up the back, good support, but it wears out quick. When I go climbing I like to wear the thick grandma bra. It keeps them up out of my way and separated and prevents loss of skin when I don't quite make the reach and slide hard down to the last hold, although i do look a little like Mondonna with cone boobs.

If I'm not running — just walking or hiking or lifting — I'll just wear the one sports bra. I found one at Target, actually, that I like. I haven't tried running in it yet, but it seems pretty supportive. It was about $15 and was located right next to the exercise outfits for students, like "workout tees," and it has a "T" back to it.

Speaking of doubling up on clothing, when I was a lifeguard, I worked with girls who would double up on their swimsuits! The suits our manager ordered for us were a little too low-cut, so some of us would wear the uniform suit over another swim suit. Pathetic, huh? Clearly the wardrobe malfunctions extend farther than just the lingerie section of the ladies' department.

OMG ladies, I'm right there with you. I hate trying to find the perfect sports bra. I am a 34D so they usually either fit in the band but are too small in the cup or they fit in the cup but are too big in the band.

However, I have finally found a sports bra that fits in both areas but I still have to ware a regular underwire under it and it's not even a cheap shorts bar. UGGGGHH. I'm not sure there is such a thing as a perfect sports bra. =)

Ladies, TRY A PROFESSIONAL BRA FITTER!! I went to one just for regular bras (but I ended up buying a sports bar) and it's amazing the difference. 85% of us are in the WRONG size. I thought I was a 38DD, but found out I'm a 32GG. Anyhow, I no longer bounce when I walk, don't have my boobs falling out the sides or front, adjusting straps, and the worst one yet riding up in the back. I can go ALL day and these bras don't move and while they are a little tight around my waist, they are very comfortable. They aren't cheap either, but it's the best thing I ever did for myself and I'm 44 and need the help! ;-)
