Large-chested ladies, how many sports bras do you wear at once?

Why is it that nearly every active woman I know is constantly on the quest for the perfect sports bra? And why is it that many of us end up with a squished uni-boob or jimmy-rigging some kind of support contraption anyway?

I thought about this yesterday when I was getting ready for a quick run -- and prepare yourselves, I am going to over-share in 3...2...1 -- and I wiggled into my new favorite combination of heart-rate monitor sports bra over my regular underwire bra. I don't love layering up, especially for a summer workout, but I am happy to have the support I need without looking like I am carrying a cat in my microfiber tank top.

Sure, I'd love to get my hands on the elusive, powerhouse sports bra. I'd especially love it if one that could handle what I have to put in it cost less than $75 and didn't look like something my grandmother wore in 1977. Perhaps that makes me sound too picky, but I think that is balanced out by my inevitable willingness to wear multiple bras for a 20-minute run through the neighborhood.

I know a lot of women who layer up their sports bras. Most of them have only confessed to wearing two at a time. However, I did have a large-chested friend who had no problem sharing her three-bra formula for safe and supported workouts. Three bras! Unrolling and getting them over her head probably took her longer than her entire Jazzercise class.

Have you found the perfect sports bra for your body? If so, do share the powerhouse that's keeping you together.

And if not, how many sports bra layers are holding you up, in, and relatively bounce-free while you exercise?

I wear only one sports bra, and I happen to like my squished uniboob, thankyouverymuch.

Believe it or not, my large chest has been my main motivation to quit working out. The size of my breasts always inhibited me during high school sports. I was one of those "lucky" girls who had a size C+ even at 100lbs. Between the breast tenderness and the back pain, quite frankly, it's just not worth it anymore. There are far too few advances in this field. No one should ever have to wear multiple bras just to be able to exercise. It's ridiculous! When a breast reduction for me is covered by medical insurance (which this country doesn't support for the forcefully unemployed), then we'll talk. Until then, I'll continue to be twenty pounds overweight and tell the rest of the world exactly where to shove it.

If I am only doing weight training and walking, one underwire bra with a very supportive sports bra on top - BUT, if I'm jogging or running, 3 - YES, 3 - underwire bras with a sports bra to hold it all in.

Keep in mind that I'm a 38DDD. Running and jogging shouldn't even BE an option for me, and only recently has been. I have spent my life holding back because I've always been the super-chesty girl. I finally got over it, and bundled the girls up in a this little make-shift boobie straight jacket, and now I can jog and run with all the other girls without feeling like I'm going to bruise my chin from the bouncing.

I absolutely have to layer up-- even though I'm thin, I have really big, um, boobs. So shirts and sports bras that are technically my size really aren't, and the the one's that fit my chest don't fit my ribs. Basically, I end up unsupported somewhere. I like to wear the actual sports bra along with a sports shirt that has the shelf underneath for extra support. Otherwise, I am flopping everywhere!

I learned this by trial and error. Anyone who has big boobs knows the embarrassment and discomfort cause when you're trying to run the treadmill and you're boobs are running more than you are.

Also, 'hockey fan', I did end up having to go to a bra fitter one day. It's so hard for me to find bras that fit, and the lady was a giant help--I was a size I had no idea I even was. It's definitely worth the time and money to find a bra that makes you look and feel good.

I got all of you beat; I wear 5 layers. One really padded bra that is snug around the ribs (one size too small). Over that one bra that fits my true size around the ribs and accommodates the padding from the previous bra. One sports bra that is one size too small and then over that one sports bra that fits over everything I have on. Over that, I wear a tight tank top. Yes, silly I know and sometimes it hurts to breathe but I am 28 and still surprisingly perky given my 34DD's so I try desperately to prevent any kind of jiggle. I even sleep in two bras-one padded and one sports bra to prevent any kind of movement. I just don't want to sag until after 30 :(

I just recently purchased the In Action sports bra by Lily of France, Model 2111210. This is the bra, but I did not buy it from this vendor: http://www.herroom.com/Lily-Of-France-2111210-In-Action-Sports-Underwire-Bra.shtml. This bra fits better than any bra I have ever had, sports bra or not. I love it.

sports bras are crap. i'm a 34DD & my cousin is a 34D. we both ran cross country in high school and wore at least 2 bras, sometimes 3. (a regular bra than sport bras layered on).

And I've seen many women layer swimsuits because a performance swimsuit also does not provide much support, even though when your swimming its not as obvious. . .
