Large-chested ladies, how many sports bras do you wear at once?

Why is it that nearly every active woman I know is constantly on the quest for the perfect sports bra? And why is it that many of us end up with a squished uni-boob or jimmy-rigging some kind of support contraption anyway?

I thought about this yesterday when I was getting ready for a quick run -- and prepare yourselves, I am going to over-share in 3...2...1 -- and I wiggled into my new favorite combination of heart-rate monitor sports bra over my regular underwire bra. I don't love layering up, especially for a summer workout, but I am happy to have the support I need without looking like I am carrying a cat in my microfiber tank top.

Sure, I'd love to get my hands on the elusive, powerhouse sports bra. I'd especially love it if one that could handle what I have to put in it cost less than $75 and didn't look like something my grandmother wore in 1977. Perhaps that makes me sound too picky, but I think that is balanced out by my inevitable willingness to wear multiple bras for a 20-minute run through the neighborhood.

I know a lot of women who layer up their sports bras. Most of them have only confessed to wearing two at a time. However, I did have a large-chested friend who had no problem sharing her three-bra formula for safe and supported workouts. Three bras! Unrolling and getting them over her head probably took her longer than her entire Jazzercise class.

Have you found the perfect sports bra for your body? If so, do share the powerhouse that's keeping you together.

And if not, how many sports bra layers are holding you up, in, and relatively bounce-free while you exercise?

I myself have very large brest. I have given up on bras in general. I ware a sports bra all the time. They minimize my brest. I love them. I myself am a 40DD, and prefer no bra at all!!

I'm just a 34D, but I agree that it is totally hard to find a sports bra that gives me the ability to run without feeling pain. I usually buy an underwire sports bra that is too small for me, pack everything in there and then wear a tight tank top over it. Then I usually wear a tee shirt or a loose fitting tank top over that. It's annoying, but as long as I'm supported, I don't care!

Hello -- I just wanted to post here (and i never do usually) b/c i have found the perfect bra! well... to me it is, anyway! I'm a 34 (large) D and have a hard time finding bras in general.. my best friend had the same problem and she and I both fell for the same sports bra! Victoria's secret makes a sports bra that is like putting on a bullet proof vest. My friend needs that super power support so she keeps int he cup-pads that come with it and i prefer a little more freedom so i just take them out... I bought mine during the semi-annual sale for about $20 NOT BAD AT ALL!! and they also adjust on the side which has been handy and i'm working on loosing some weight... they are also the best looking sports bras i've ever owned and come in a range of colors! !

Thanks hockey fan for leaving your comment.. I am actually a sports bra expert (fitter) for a major running company and I really appreciate knowing that my position is valued. There are alot of bras out there for women that are larger DD+ and need more support. Try anything by the brand CWX or a Champion underwire. I have also noticed that for smaller band sizes but larger cup sizes (like a 34D, 34 DD) the Motion Sensor by Saucony is a great fit.. it is really flattering as well! This one is a little hard to get into as I have tried it myself so if you have any shoulder/dexterity issues I would avoid this bra :) Hope this helps...
