Q: How did you help Lauren get trim and toned?
A: We started off doing circuit-training three days a week
and she did cardio workouts on her own. In the past couple months,
Lauren and Lo and I have been combining cardio kickboxing and
circuit-training into one workout. We start with 20 to 30 minutes
of high-intensity boxing. The girls hit my focus mitts and do jumps
and kicks. Then we mix in weight moves, such as lunges, squats,
push-ups and sit-ups. It's a great full-body workout that
relieves stress and builds confidence.
Q: Lauren and Audrina are regularly filmed in bathing
suits. What tips do you have for getting bikini-ready abs?
A: My philosophy is to train the body as a whole and the
abs will come. People think they need to do hundreds of sit-ups a
day to get six-pack abs, but if you're doing the right kind of
strength-training moves (exercises that challenge your body to
stabilize itself while you're working with resistance),
you're constantly using your midsection.
Q: How can people make the most of their time at the
gym?
A: Definitely have a plan when you walk in. A lot of
people waste time trying to figure out what exercises to do. Go in
with your workout mapped out. As you're commuting to the gym,
decide if you're going to do cardio. If so, what machine, for
how long and at what intensity? If you're planning to do
weights, decide if you want to work your whole body or focus on
certain muscle groups.
