Meet the Constant Dieter: About Me
[Ed. note -- Join me in welcoming The Constant Dieter to Healthy Living! I know many of you will relate as she explores different diets, weight loss plans and attempts at healthy living and all of the ups and downs that go with that journey.]
If you're just starting to read my blog for the first time, let
me catch you up.
I’m just a woman who needs to diet... but doesn’t really
want to. It’s always a big inner contradiction for me because
while I want to lose 15-20 pounds, I don’t really want to
sacrifice the rest of my life at the same time.
I love food, so
eating lettuce all day just won’t work for me. Eating at
restaurants and dinner parties are staples of my social life,
making specific diets hard to stay on. But in the process, I've
tried the
Fat Smash with some success;
eaten more cookies than I should admit ; and
thought about eating way too often.
So this blog is really just a chronicle of my struggles with
that contradiction. And how I manage to laugh at it all -- at
myself especially -- as I try to navigate a life of constantly
dieting...and constantly not dieting. ;)
Here’s more about me. If you want to write me, you can at

Good luck! I gained weight AFTER giving birth, because for some reason I developed a craving for chocolates, cookies, and cakes. I never really cared for sweets until then, but was also unsuccessful in my attempts to diet because I love to drink wine before I got pregnant. Like you I find it hard to stick to my diet because we traveled a lot and often attended social gatherings. I'm also married to someone who enjoys fries, pizza, and ice cream (with chocolate syrup)!

Try Weight Watchers - it works - I lost 18 pounds last year and it was OK - you don't feel like you have to starve - you can eat whatever you like as long as you track it and then eat accordingly for the rest of the day. It is easy to follow and you meet some fun people. The hard part now is keeping it off - that sucks. Good luck :)

If anyone has the answer to dieting without starving, let me know. I'm in my late 40's and have been eating right and exercising 6 days a week for the last 3 months. Finally (and I mean finally) I lost about 7 lbs. Then one night out to my best friends 50th B-day party, I had gained 6 back. How can that be?

I know what's it like to be a life long dieter. It's painful to have to think about food every minute of every day, is this going to make me gain weight? Have I eaten more than 1200 calories today? How am I going to burn them off? It's agonizing because I do love food so much...
