Messy People

user

I have a thought!  "Back up and grab your garters Gertie!  She has a thought!"

I am one of those people with perpetually cluttered home.  Not unclean, just messy - cluttered if you will.  I feel more comfortable with clutter around, with things like clean laundry on the couch next to me.  I am jittery and anxious in a house with everything in it's place and that place being out of sight.  I can admit this now.  It has taken years, but I feel SO much better.  Anyway, looking on the web to see if there were other slobs like me, I found an interesting article:

Good news for messy people: tidiness is bad for you

(The comments are a bit of a crack up if you dare)

Now, I wonder...how many of you keep a less than what someone else would call an immaculate home, not because you don't have time or are too lazy as some comments would have you believe, but because you are more comfortable - emotionally or physically - with a bit of mess?

How many of you find your comfort in your mess more important than a visitors discomfort with it?   (me, I don't care if you don't like being in my house, I prolly didn't want you there anyway LOL)

I don't like clutter. It's a waste of time and space when you need to find something.

My house is NOT immaculate, by any means. But I actually like thing in their place, like clothes being hung up, towels in the bathroom, dishes in the dishwasher or cabinet.

For me, it's easier to pick up a small mess than to let it become a big mess.

I think people with a little clutter are happier people and seem to have more friends. I sometimes put off going out with friends or having them over unless my house is "just right". Which drives me nuts and my husband too. I think some clutter is fine as long as your keeping the kitchen and bathroom's clean, clutter away..

My house is neat enough, even when my grandkids visit, I don't need to STRESS out about my house being "just right."

So I am ready for visitors all the time.

The reason I am this way is because I have friends, and myself that suffer from asthma. There is nothing worse than having dust accumulate on clothes on the couch, to the point of not being able to breathe.

When I have visitors over, we hang out in the kitchen and have coffee. Nothing worse than a cluttered table. Kind of ruins one's appetite.

When I don't use something, I donate it. Why keep it if it is not used?

My friends feel the same as I do, so I have no problem with anyone dropping by, anytime.

I let my house get messy, i leave dishes in the sink, I leave clean clothes un folded, and dont get me started on my bathroom.

But at times I need for things to be put away and spotless. I can never go too long with a mess before it starts stressing me out.

But thank you for sharing this with us, it makes me feel better about my messy habits.

I dont like a spotless clean house. I appreciate a bit of a clutter. Like every dish doesnt have to be washed asap. An hour wont kill it. The floors dont have to mopped and sweeped daily. Though my bf is the opposite. he likes a spotless clean house. with the dishes washed pronto and the floors swept and mopped daily. Take a chill pill. it aint the end of the world.

I enjoy my home when it's clean. It feels good to relax without looking at dust, clutter and pet hair; yet I don't obsess over the details every day. I would rather spend my time playing with my kids and sneaking in a little "me" time when I can. 10 years from now, my kids won't remember that the house was a bit messy, but they will remember the time that I spent with them. Even if the messes pile up, who's going to care in 10 years? Big messes, however, make me irritable and cranky, so I try to keep things picked up for the sake of my sanity.
