My HUGE Fitness Milestone! What's yours?

Remember when we first started Body by Glamour? I told you all about my lack of upper-body strength and my inability to perform a push up correctly. For a long time, I was afraid that I would NEVER be able to do one, but I vowed to overcome my fear.

Well, last week, my lovely trainer, Taj Harris, decided to torture me a little by having me do pushups on an inverted Bosu Balance Trainer. Sadly, I couldn’t keep my balance. She introduced me to the Bosu on our very first session--and I could barely keep both feet on the center of it for more than three seconds before falling off. From the start, I dubbed it the “torturous device”--and yes, seven weeks later, it’s still torturous.

See our tips: 6 Moves for Sexy, Toned Arms!

Thankfully, Taj had mercy on me (a rarity, but that’s why I love her!) and let me do the pushups on steady ground instead for the remaining circuits. So I did two sets of 10. I was pretty upset that I couldn’t balance on the Bosu; but then a few hours later, I was struck by an amazing realization: I did 10 (unmodified) pushups in a row! Twice. Now I know I’m no Xena Warrior Princess, (am I the only one that loved watching that show?) but I feel like a strong woman these days. Granted, 10 pushups is not much by most standards, but for me, it is a HUGE milestone. I may not be stronger than anybody else, but I am much stronger than I was seven weeks ago!

I just wanted to share the good news with you. And before BBG is over, I plan on doing those pushups on the Bosu! I also hope to do this move without practically crying--my core needs serious strengthening...

How about you? Have you reached any fitness milestones lately? Baby steps count! If your answer is yes, have you set some new goals? Or are you still trying to meet some of your original goals? And when do you feel your strongest--after a 5-mile run or when you take your favorite kickboxing class? Let me know!

That's really great!!! Push ups are awesome and do amazing things for your arms.

Now that you can do two sets of ten, consider taking the 100 push up challenge! (http://hundredpushups.com/) The most I did was 60 in a row before I got bored, but after I got there, I was getting compliments on my arms left and right. Considering my arms are my worst trait, this was amazing!

I have mastered pushups in all forms now (I can do the bosu ball ones too, plus decline and elevated) My new goal is (gulp) the pull up. I am working very, very hard at it, but they are horrible. Someday, sometime I WILL manage to do 10 unassisted pull ups.
