Naked: No one cares about your back fat

Today, I came across a sentence in a blog that I read, which stopped me just about dead. The author was talking about a very cool strapless dress that she had just bought, which she loves, and which made her very happy, sexy and hot and lickable and delicious. She said it wasn't perfect--a little tight in the belly, a little loose in the bust, and a little low in back, which exposed her back fat. But so what, she continued on:
"Nobody really cares about my back fat except me and people who hate me, anyway, and who cares about the people who hate me?"
And I was gobsmacked, taken aback, startled and amazed by the absolute, simple genius of that statement, and a little irritated (not to mention kind of embarrassed) that the thought hadn't occurred to me before, that I hadn't thought of it myself. I mean, we hear that all the time, right? How people are too busy worrying about themselves and their own perceived flaws to spend any time thinking about yours.

But that sentence, right up there, nails down the suspicion that we have and that we can't ever really let go of, because we are not stupid, we are realistic, and we might have even done it ourselves--people do talk about our flaws, and mock them, and all the happy hippy la la stuff we tell ourselves isn't going to make the bitchy, judgmental assholes go away.

But the beautiful thing about that is the pithy, to-the-point, brilliantly simple shrug-off. Who cares about the bitchy, judgmental assholes? Who cares what a cowardly jerk thinks? Seriously.

Why is this such a difficult-to-grasp concept? Why do we spend so much time worrying about the opinions of people who, in the end, do not matter even a little bit? When we feel absolutely eat-me-up, outrageously sexy, when we feel tough and strong and amazing, when we know that we could conquer the world with a swing of our luscious hips and have anyone we want with just a tiny upturn of our lip and the crook of our littlest finger, we have the only opinion that matters, and the haters can just f*ck off.

I don't care what other people think about my back fat. Doesn't mean I like to show it off either.

The better I look, the better I feel and I'm sure many people will share that opinion. If my back fat is rolling out of my strapless dress, I'm not going to feel good about it.

Anne.. I love what you had to say. If more of us could love ourselves, we would all be happier people.

Nini Poo: You just couldn't let it go, could you? Obviously you do care what people think of you, and that's ok too.

What's even worse, bellyfat. It's so embarrassing.I do everything in my power to hide it.What's even harder my boyfriend hates it.Which makes even harder to accept the way I'am right now,Even though I'm working on it so hard.I know don't worry about what he thinks.I do realize that.Still doesn't make it any easier. My tummy makes me look like I'm 5 months pregnant.Anybody got any additional tricks of the trade,to rid myself of this.It would be so appreciated. That never seems to really go away.I workout 3 hrs a day.

ive struggled with my weight and self esteem issues my whole life. im now goin on 35 yrs old and feel better about myself then i ever have. after havin my son @ age 18 i started workin out 3-4 times a week which i eventually saw results from, that kept me goin. i dont do it 4 anyone but myself and thats the key. with cutting things out of my diet little @ a time i managed 2 drop down 2 the same size i was when i was 10yrs old and im healthy now. i started by cuttin fat out of my diet and eventually lead 2 watchin my carbs. when i got 2 a point where i couldnt seem 2 loose anymore weight i started a mental note of stuff i ate all the time that i thought was healthy. eventually in time i have givin up breads and milk products. those were killer 4 me but a must if i was gonna lose anymore weight. readin labels is key and not buyin stuff u shouldnt eat r the only way 2 go. im not sayin i dont splurge once in a great while cause u have 2 but its so important 2 get rite back 2 ur healthy eattin habits and exercise routines. i workout @ least 5 days a week cause im worth it and my health and self esteem is the most important. even if its just a walk around the neighborhood for 30 mins or a quick bike ride in the evenings u deserve 30 mins 5 days a week 4 urself. i try and mix up that i do 4 exercise so that im truely gettin a full workout everyweek and i dont get burnt out on doing the same things all the time. i target my trouble spots more often 2 help me reach my personal goals so far its workin wonders. i look and feel amazing and what a difference it has made in my life. if i can do it then anyone can trust me it wasnt easy and took me many yrs 2 figure my body out completely but with determination and the will 4 success u 2 can do it. its never 2 late 2 turn ur life around and health should always b the key the rest is the greatest bonus which was what u were goin 4 anyways right. 2 look and feel ur best
